It’s a new year and time to set some new goals. Despite my obsession with looking and feeling my best, it’s my laziness that gets in the way of looking after myself as much as I should. I may own all the beauty products in the world but when it comes to using them I slack off after a couple of uses. This year I aim to take better care of my body and one way I’m contemplating doing that is by making use of some high-tech beauty inventions. 2014 will be the year I embrace the beauty tool.
Let’s take a look at 14 revolutionary beauty tools that could change your body (and your life) this year.
Cellulite – there is no positives of having cellulite. In 2014 I want to get rid of as much as I can. This vacuum massager by Bliss makes their FatGirlSlim skin firming cream work overdry. Plus, it does all the massage work for you so it’s a bonus for lazybones like me.

Hair Removal Laser 4X
Tria’s at-home solution to laser hair reduction is perfect for a lazy lass like me. I do love the results that can be achieved by laser treatments but the process of going to a clinic every few weeks makes it a task I can’t be bothered to do. With this gadget you can do your own laser treatment in the privacy of your own home.
UK £375 from Selfridges
I adore my Mia2 but ever since I fell in love with the Clarisonic I have wanted a Clarisonic Plus. The main difference between the compact Mia2 and the Plus is it can be used on the body as well (when fitted with the dedicated body brush head). I love a good body scrub and with the Clarisonic I can have the tool do all the hard work.

Trinity Collagen Booster
I’m on the downhill slide to 30 and my skin is starting to show it. The NuFace Trinity device uses microcurrent technology, along with the Collagen Booster, to assist with facial toning, wrinkle reduction and collagen boosting.

You have probably seen devices that look very similar to the MiraCurl popping up everywhere, but this curl creator from Rusk is the original. It looks like something out of The Jetsons but simply put this device takes a chunk of hair and whips it into a curl in just a few seconds.

Isaac Mizrahi Splatter Paint Tweezers
I love a good pair of tweezers and you really can’t beat the Tweezerman slant tweezers. In their latest Designer Series (past editions include Betsey Johnson and Harajuku Lovers) they’ve teamed with Isaac Mizrachi. My favourite of the collection are the splatter paint design. They’re bright, colourful and they bring a little fun to your hair removal emergencies.

Source Hand-Held Shower Filter
When I had bonded hair extensions the first thing I learnt was that water is our enemy. It breaks down the bonds quickly and the additives in our water supply contributes to the lacklustre appearance of our hair. I would have to use filtered water to wash my hair and it was the most time-consuming exercise I had ever endured. Now with this gadget from T3 you don’t have to worry. Their shower head has an in-built filter which can easily be changed just as you would with your drinking water. I love the hand-held option but they also make a regular showerhead and an in-line filter.
Dual Antibacterial Sharpener
You probably don’t think about it but how often do you clean your makeup pencil sharpener? Once, maybe twice a year? Maybe never? To be honest, I only ever empty it. That’s why when I saw this pencil sharpener by Sephora Collection it got me thinking about all the germs and yucky stuff my sharpener could be harbouring. This baby is on my list because the metal blade is treated with a special silver and zinc-based antibacterial additive to sanitize pencils with every twist.

Conical tongs have been hot sellers for the past couple of years, but the Micro Wand by Cloud Nine is definitely one you will fall in love with despite your skill level. Don’t let the name fool you, this hair deely isn’t micro at all. The perfect size for long locks or bitty bobs, you can create everything from loose waves through to tight spirals. Its three temperature settings allow you to ensure the right setting for your hair type and its unique secret ingredient within the barrel gives your hair added shine and lustre.

If skin needling doesn’t freak you out you should give this invention a whirl. Similar to the dermal rolling devices you use on your face, the tiny needles on the Beauty Mouse by Dermaroller are placed in optimal positioning to be used on the body. You can address cellulite, scars, stretch marks and general skin toning by allowing your serums/creams to seep further into your skin.

The holy grail of makeup sponges is a must have according to most makeup artists. You would think all makeup sponges were created equally but that isn’t the case. The reason this hot pink sponge is so well loved is due to the patent-pending elliptical shape. It is said that this sponge makes application fool-proof by allowing you to access hard-to-reach areas, and the non-latex foam doesn’t waste product like other sponges do.

Many bloggers have dubbed this weird little contraption as “the new Clarisonic”. It combines sonic technology with a soft silicone brush that is both nonabrasive and ultra hygienic – and no replacement brush heads required. The 100% waterproof device is nonporous so it’s far more hygienic than regular fibre brushes. The fully rechargeable unit is available in 3 options each fitted with a different brush design to suit your skin type – Ultra Sensitive, Sensitive/Normal and Combination.

AIRbrush Makeup System
Airbrush makeup is something often reserved for special occasions but it doesn’t have to be. TEMPTU’s AIRbrush Makeup System allows you to have perfect airbrushed makeup everyday. The makeup comes in their unique AIRpod’s which simply attach to the air gun. Foundation, bronzer, blush and highlighter can be applied in just a few seconds, and they even have special products for the body including bronzer and body camouflage. The starter kit includes the machine and a foundation colour of your choice, with other AIRpods sold separately or in value packs.

If you haven’t switched to a power toothbrush yet, what are you waiting for? It’s 2014, why are you still slaving away with a manual toothbrush when you could get a far better result with less work? The Sonicare DiamondClean Power Toothbrush from Philips not only gives you all the benefits of a power toothbrush but it looks stylish as well. My favourite attribute is the unique charging options – A charger glass that sits on your countertop doubles as a mouth rinsing cup; and the charging travel case which can be connected via USB to charge on the run.
