August is nearly over but I couldn’t let the month fly by without sharing my favourite new release beauty products that went on sale. It was a big month for new releases, with over 75 new beauty products crossing my desk and for the first time in months I actually have favourites in all beauty categories!
This is going to be a big one so let’s just get straight into it ….
Split Remedy is a new haircare range from TRESemme specifically targeted at those who suffer split ends. When I used to dye my hair blonde I had constant split ends and there was only so many trips to the salon for a trim I was willing to take. This haircare line aims to reduce those scissor sessions.
The range includes Split Remedy Shampoo, Split Remedy Conditioner, Split Remedy Leave-In Conditioning Spray and Split Remedy Split End Sealing Serum.
The latest collection to get revamped by Garnier Fructis is the Sleek & Shine range, now boasting up to 72hr results. That is some pretty big claims but even if it doesn’t quite reach the 72 hour mark, I am loving some of the new products. Broken down into two categories, Weightless and Intense, the new protection products are a treat. My favourite so far is the Heat Protection Cream for thick, dry and/or frizzy hair.
Schwarzkopf Professional BC Bonacure Hairtherapy
The Oil Miracle Finishing Treatment was released a few months ago but with the staggering success of the multi-purpose treatment now comes a full Oil Miracle haircare line. Taking the key ingredient of Argan Oil from the original treatment, the range consists of BC Oil Miracle Shampoo, BC Oil Miracle Liquid Conditioner, BC Oil Miracle Gold Shimmer Conditioner and BC Oil Miracle Gold Shimmer Treatment, along with the original Finishing Treatment and Light Finishing Treatment.
Molton Brown London
I had no idea Molton Brown made hair products, but now that I do I am very happy. Their latest hair treatment is the Mer-Rouge Deep Conditioning Mask and it is perfect for nourishing dull hair. Being that it is winter in Australia right now, I definitely have some dullness to get rid of and I am embracing treatments despite having fine hair.
OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps
I have used OPI Nail Apps a few times (like in this Valentine’s Day post) but this month OPI have released Pure Lacquer Nail Apps which I feel are much more user-friendly, and similar to their competitors Sally Hansen Salon Effects. They come in a range of 14 prints, with cream and shimmer finishes, so there really is a design (or 5) you will love. Each pack contains 16 apps in 8 different sizes.
AUS $19.95 from David Jones / USA $11.95 from professional salons / UK £13.80 from Lena White
Two new limited edition nail lacquers from Australis have hit shelves to celebrate their 25 years of producing cosmetics. The party themed nails and colours are a fun way to jazz up what is left of Winter and to welcome Spring. First is Fairy Bread, a sparkle packed glitter polish that can be used as a top coat or by itself. The second is Hip Hip Hooray, a rich orange cream created for Pantone’s Colour Of The Year, Tangerine Tango.
AUS $7.95 from Priceline, Big W, Kmart, Target and selected pharmacies.
I am really starting to embrace bronzers and this new little compact from Clarins has me more excited about them then ever before. The Bronzing Duo SPF 15 Mineral Powder Compact contains UVA and UVB protection with a 100% mineral sunscreen. This is definitely the first I have seen this in a bronzing powder so it makes it a big winner in my opinion. Available in three shades, Light, Medium and Dark.
NARS Fall 2012 Collection
Just to confuse all you international folk, you have probably seen the NARS Fall 2012 collection on sale for quite some time but here in Australia it has just landed. The collection is quite big and dare I say one of the most impressive in the last 12 months. I have already shown you Outlaw, the blush from the collection, but there are quite a few favourites for me. I am lusting after the new Multiple in Undress Me (a super nude pink with silver shimmer) and the Limited Edition Eyeshadow Trio in High Society (Lavender, Forest Green and Amethyst).
One brand I fondly remember from my early skincare years is Biore. Their Deep Cleansing Pore Strips were the coolest thing and I remember getting a sample almost every month with my Dolly Magazine subscription so I tried them at least 5 times before I ever bought a pack. But a decade on the Biore brand has undergone a reinvention and they are taking their expertise of clean skin to a new level. Now the line will just focus on cleansers and toners, for all skin types. So far I am loving the wipes and with a 15 piece product line there will absolutely be a cleanser that is perfect for you.
The successful range of Even Better products has grown this month to include the Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector. If you have tried the Even Better Dark Spot Corrector and had successful results, than you will find teaming up with the Dark Circle version for your eyes will give you the power to fight pigmentation even better. It is a lightweight formula and can easily be used under or over makeup, plus the handy tube is small enough to keep in your handbag.
Garnier Skin Naturals
Miracle Skin Perfector has to be one of the all-time greatest successes for Garnier, but there were a lot of users who found the formula a little too heavy for their skin. The solution hit shelves this month with BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Oil-Free. Those with oily to combination skin may find this one works for them better, and even though I have dry skin, I actually like the way this cream feels on my face more than the original. If you didn’t think the original was 100% to your liking, than definitely give the Oil-Free a try. Available in two shades, Light and Medium.
AUS $13.95 from pharmacies and variety stores / USA – Not available at this time / UK £9.99 from Boots
A brand new self-tanning brand has launched and even though I am not a huge fan of at home tanning, this brand is worth mentioning just for making their products smell nice. Born right here in Australia, Bondi Sands is a new range of UV-free tanning that is easy to achieve in your own home. The range currently consists of Self-Tanning Mist, and Self-Tanning Lotion in Light-Medium and Dark.
AUS $19.95 each from Priceline and selected pharmacies
A new deodorant from Nivea is helping people like me to battle those underarm itches and rashes. I find my underarms get extremely irritated by hair removal and warm temperatures, but the Sensitive Protect deodorants help to combat those irritations with good stuff like Avocado oil and Chamomile extract. Available in roll-on and aerosol.
A snazzy new razor from Shick has just landed and with it comes the power of 5 blades, just like a mens razor. The closely placed 5 blades promise an even closer shave with the added moisture of a shea butter strip. No more stealing your mans razor just because it gives “a better shave”.
AUS $14.25 from supermarkets and pharmacies / USA $11.49 from Drugstore.com / UK – Not available at this time
One of my most anticipated fragrance releases for this year is Dot by Marc Jacobs. Like most people, I am a huge fan of Marc Jacobs and I have loved all the fragrances that have come before, but being the packaging junky that I am, Dot takes the cake. The mix of polkadot and gold detail, the multiple butterflies and a beautiful pearl …. it is just spectacular. And the perfume smells nice too!
Just like the ladies version, Sensitive Protect Deodorant for Men helps to calm irritated skin as well as keep sweat at bay. It obviously has a nice, manly scent so you don’t need to tell them about the goodness of Avocado oil and Chamomile extract if you think that will turn them off. Available in roll-on and aerosol.
