New Release Beauty Favourites Feb 2013

I don’t want to alarm anyone but I think the beauty industry took steroids this month because they seriously bulked up! Nails and makeup were the big players this time around here but surprisingly I had ZERO hair products. I played with a total of 92 products launching this month and none of them were hair. I am gobsmacked.

Nevertheless, I was kept very busy and compiling this list of new products to be excited about was more difficult than I had hoped it would be. I apologise now for any lusting that may occur as a result of this beauty porn. Let’s begin.

Nails

Sally Hansen

I have heard a lot about Complete Salon Manicure by Sally Hansen. The supposed “all-in-one” nail system in just one bottle. I never trusted it could do as it said but I felt a sharp slap in the face this month when I tried their all new CSM formula. Previously a 5-in-1, the new 7-in-1 includes a gel shine finish and enhanced chip resistance. So far the new formula has just been rolled out in Australia and from what I can tell from online the USA and UK will have to wait just a little longer.

Australia $14.95 from Kmart, Target, Big W, Priceline, Price Attack, Myer, David Jones, Woolworths and pharmacies

USA & UK – Unavailable at this time.

Mode Cosmetics

Glitter is not going away anytime soon and I am beyond happy about that. Who doesn’t love glitter?!?!?! Mode have created three brand new glitter nail enamels that can be applied as a top coat or you can get technical and dab them on for some crusty glitter chunks. Nail Holic is a mix of medium and small sized hexagonal orange, blue, green, bright pink and silver glitter. Finder’s Keepers is a mix of  tiny and medium sized hexagonal gold glitter. Pocket Rocket is a mix of tiny round silver glitter with medium sized star and heart glitter in blue, gold, silver, white, pale pink and bright pink.

Australia $2.45 from selected pharmacies

USA & UK – Unavailable at this time.

Manicare

The glamnails range by Manicare has always been impressive in my opinion, but it is going to get even better this month with the new Express! 3-in-1 Nail Art Pens. Twist open the lid and reveal a paint brush to paint your nails. Pull the cap off the lid and you have a fine-tip pen. Twist open the base chamber and you have 300 jewels to bling your design. Not enough for you? Also in the box with this super crafty pen is a sheet of 10 nail stencil designs AND a cuticle stick to make your design work flawless. Available in 6 shades: Pink, Gold, Silver, Black, Orange and Yellow.

Australia $9.99 from Priceline, Target and selected pharmacies.

USA & UK – Unavailable at this time.

Makeup

Revlon

There is a new lipstick in town and she is a bit of an attention seeker. Just my kind of lipstick. The new ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick by Revlon is a game changer. It has taken the trusted ColorStay brand and injected it with some serious colour. You get your 16 hour, ultra comfortable, all day wear but you also get a new velvety, suede finish in a host of colours I don’t think I have ever seen in a Revlon Lipstick. I am talking about bright fuschia, ruby red, juicy watermelon ….. 20 shades so mouthwatering it makes me hungry, but that is ok because these lippy’s will wear through even the longest binge session.

Australia $25.95 from Revlon stockists

USA $9.99 from Target, Drugstore.com and ULTA Beauty

UK –  Unavailable at this time.

The Budge-Proof Gel Eyeliner comes in 5 shades (Blackest Black, Blackest Shimmer, Brilliant Blue, Espresso and Pure Purple) promising to deliver your desired colour through the toughest conditions, including sweat, tears and water. The built in brush is capable of giving a thin or thick line with a flick of the hand.

Rimmel London

A new foundation from Rimmel London has hit shelves this month boasting light-reflecting technology to give skin a flawless finish in any light, but it goes one better than that. Buying a foundation to match your skin tone 100% is difficult but Rimmel believe their new Match Perfection Foundation fixes that. They claim their Advanced Smart-Tone technology instantly mimics the skin’s texture and tone for superior blendability, like a true master of disguise. Available in 12 shades ranging from Light Porcelain to Bronze, there could be a true match for you. Let me know how badly you want to see a review for this one!

Skincare

Lancôme

Two top selling skincare treatments from Lancôme have become even better this month. Génifique and Visionnaire are two serums that have risen Lancôme to be one of the most popular skincare brands globally. Based on sales, Visionnaire is the #1 anti-aging treatment in Australia and Génifique is #3. Combine the two and you have two serious super serums. So how could they possibly improve them? The lab coats at Lancôme HQ have worked tirelessly to develop new and improved delivery systems that have the ability to get the good stuff in deeper for even better results.

AMENDMENT 1 MAY 13: I have just been informed the new version of this product has been pushed back until mid-May. I apologise for any confusion this error may have caused.

Body

Bioderma

Everyone knows about the famous Crealine H2O makeup remover by Bioderma, but you may be surprised to know that Bioderma have a lot of other fabulous products in their hat. The latest range to launch in Australia is Atoderm which is designed for atopic and very very dry skin. The products in this range can be used on the face and the body, which means you cut down a lot on having two seperate regimes for your skin. The range consists of a foaming gel cleanser, PO Zinc (for when you are suffering flare ups), a moisturising cream (for when you aren’t having flare ups) and a hand cream.

Colgate

It is pretty rare for a new toothpaste to strike some form of emotion in me but the new Optic White toothpaste from Colgate looks pretty snazzy and claims to be the Rolls Royce of whitening toothpaste. I have very sensitive teeth so trying a whitening toothpaste means I have to muster up some courage just to open the box. I haven’t swayed from my rotation of the same 2 sensitive toothpastes in over 12 months but I think Optic White has got me wanting to give it a try. The promise? Three shades whiter in just one week. That is a bold claim and I wonder just how much pain I would be in if it were to work.

Australia $7.99 from supermarkets and pharmacies

USA $4.99 from Drugstore.com, Target and Walgreens

UK – Unavailable at this time.

Fragrance

L’Occitane En Provence

Australia may be heading in to Autumn but with the hot days we are experiencing it feels a little more like Spring, which makes it perfect for the latest fragrance from L’Occitane, Spring Cherry. Cherry Blossom has been one of L’Occitane’s best selling fragrance range for a long time but now they are bringing a new little twist to the customer favourite with Spring Cherry. Cherry Blossoms are an obvious note in this fragrance but the mix of sweet fruits, musk and woods make this a multi-level delight for the senses. The limited edition eau de toilette won’t be available for long so go take a whiff while you can!

Australia $50 from L’Occitane stores and online

USA $42 from L’Occitane stores and online

UK $32 from L’Occitane stores and online
