Christmas can be a depressing time of year if you think about all the waste and consumerism, but it’s also a happy time of year and gift giving can be lots of fun. I like to think that a good way to take the sting out of Christmas & the holidays is by giving a gift of kindness, and in the beauty realm that can be done by choosing gifts that don’t use any animal products, or aren’t tested on animals, or simply contributed profits to charity. It would be great if we saw these options become more popular but for now the offering from a few select brands gives us more than what we need to bring some joy to our loved ones lives.
I have curated a list of my favourite cruelty-free, vegan or supporting charity gift ideas.
You are spoiled for choice at Lush when it comes to gifts. They have stocking stuffers, gifts everyone at any age plus a wide range of gift packs for every budget. However, the one thing I love most about Lush during the holidays is the limited edition creations they make. Some products have such a cult following that as soon as they hit shelves they sell out. Picking one favourite from the Lush holiday releases this year was impossible so I have selected a few.
It goes without saying that Lush Snow Fairy would be on the list. It is one of those cult products I mentioned earlier. The shower gel is one of the best sellers every year but this time I am fancying something different, the Snow Fairy Massage Bar. The neon pink fairy-shaped solid smells just like the shower gel, and leaves your skin shimmering with a beautiful silver lustre. The product is entirely vegan, and even the shimmering lustre is made from agar agar instead of plastic glitter, so it is completely safe for you and the earth.
AUS $9.95 / USA $7.95 / UK £4.95 at Lush
Most Lush-lovers do favour the Snow Fairy shower gel but this year I dare say give Rose Jam a try. If you are a fan of their revolutionary body conditioner, Ro’s Argan, you will love Rose Jam shower gel. I don’t even like rose fragrances but this scent is something else. Truly indulgent, this vegan treat is only available until December 25 (unless sold out prior) so grab one (or five) now!
AUS $9.95 / USA $10.95 / UK £4.65 at Lush
Santa’s Lip Scrub
Lush’s lip scrubs are always good but their limited edition Santa flavour is definitely my favourite. Why is that? Because it tastes exactly like cola lollies! I love those cola-flavoured bottles covered in sugar but like all candy they are terribly bad for you. With this sugary lip scrub you can scrub your lips smooth AND get that delicious cola flavour without any of the calories. Or if you do feel a little naughty (and I usually do), when you are finished scrubbing you can simply lick your lips clean. Now that is one delicious beauty chore!
AUS $9.95 / USA $8.95 / UK £5.50 at Lush
