The annual CLEO Swimsuit party has been the official launch of summer in Sydney for a good decade or so. The guest list reads like a roll call of hot, young, trendy Sydney-siders who this year flocked to The Bucket List at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach to check out the swimsuit parade. The place was filled with the who’s who of the Sydney social scene – Nikki Phillips, Kate Peck, Laura Dundovic, Luke Jacobz, Rochelle Fox and Laura Enever to name a few. How I managed to end up on the invite list baffles me but nevertheless I was excited to get down there because Napoleon Perdis were in-charge of creating the beauty looks for the models.
The models (including Australia’s Next Top Model 2013 runner-ups Shanali and Duckie) donned the new swimsuit collection from Billabong, which happened to be some of the cutest (and smallest) pieces of fabric I have ever seen, but it was the casual radiance the models exhibited that had me interested. Their hot summer tans were courtesy of Le Tan so it was great to see that a good tan doesn’t have to come from the sun. But their makeup stood out to me because it was hard to tell they were actually wearing makeup, they just looked naturally flawless, happy and glowing – and isn’t that how we all want to look during summer?
I grabbed makeup artist in charge, Anna Papadopoulos, to give us the step-by-step for recreating this look.
