Sunscreen For Summer Travel

Possibly the one thing that was easy for me to pack for my trip to Bali was sunscreen. I love sunscreen and I use it everyday but going for an island getaway where I know there will be activities such as swimming means I have to factor in more protection than required when I am sitting in my office each day. I took that as my license to bring multiples.

Here are the sunscreens accompanying me on my holiday. Surely half a dozen will cover it?

Ella Bache Great 50+ Facesaver Active

The more powerful version of their award-winning 30+ Facesaver combines UVA and UVB broad-spectrum SPF 50+ protection with enriching super-fruit oils, pomegranate, cranberry, grapeseed, shea butter, jojoba and lanolin. The formula will help to moisturise the skin and protect it from the dehydrating effects of the sun. It is formulated for long sun exposure on a daily basis, which I don’t plan on doing but I have heard the sunshine hangs around for a while in Bali.

Mesoestetic Dermatological Sun Protection SPF50+

This cosmeceutical sunscreen gives high sun protection for normal and dry skin. It includes several types of sun filters that provide a physical barrier effect against UV rays. Due to its moisturising and antioxidant properties, it is the essential compliment of any treatment involving temporary skin dehydration …. or air travel! As I have not been to Bali before I am making sure to cover my bases in case my skin becomes extra dry. It can be used on the most sensitised of skin so it is a safe bet no matter where I go or what I do.

Neutrogena Beach Defence Sunscreen Spray SPF50+

A lightweight, easily absorbed sunscreen that offers broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection in an easy to apply aerosol can. What has come to be rather standard for me in my sunscreen choices is all included – SPF50+ protection, water resistant for up to four hours and hypoallergenic. It smells absolutely delicious, like pineapples (in my opinion)!

Featuring HELIOPLEX® technology, the spray absorbs UVA and UVB rays, resulting in photostable, durable protection. It contains moisturising properties to help relieve dry skin associated with the outdoor elements. Both oil and PABA free. The Water + Sun barrier is why this baby will be my swimming companion. It helps keep the skin hydrated while in water as well as protected from the mean old sun.

Australia $16.99 from supermarkets, variety stores and pharmacies.

USA $9.99 (SPF30) from Target, ULTA and Drugstore.com.
