Cartoon medical surgeon

Ok, straight off I have to tell you I have already lied. There is not 5 things. There are 10 things. Frankly, people make way too many mistakes before they opt for plastic surgery so there is no way I could leave it at just 5 things you need to know. You need to know all 10 so I have recruited Kate Moreland, the director of Clarify Clinic, to tell us about the 10 most common mistakes she sees from people considering plastic surgery.

Even if you or someone you know isn’t necessarily considering plastic surgery right now, you should definitely read this because it is something you cannot discount down the track. Continue Reading

How To Prevent Crows Feet Header

Crows feet are often the first wrinkles women start to notice on themselves. Those fine lines branching out from the outer corner of our eyes reveal so much about how we care for ourselves. Dehydration, sun damage and repetitive face movements are the most common causes of crows feet. Before you go grabbing a needle filled with Botox, no matter how much damage you have already done you can still prevent further damage. For those of you who are yet to see the signs of crows feet forming, now is the time to take my tips into action so you can prolong having to take any drastic action in the future.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for using injectables and fillers when the time comes, but a few changes in your daily life can make an impact (and my tips are all much more cost effective). Continue Reading

Kim Kadashian The Vampire Facial Treatment

When Kim Kardashian decided to share her experience having a “Vampire Facial”, the world erupted in judgement. For a pregnant celebrity to literally be the face of a procedure so few had heard about, the name calling couldn’t have been thrown quick enough. I admit, in my own head I may have called her “insane”, “moronic” and “selfish” but I quickly realised I had no right to think those things until I knew what the hell a vampire facial really is. Now I have all the answers to share with you about the vampire facial including what it involves and perhaps why you should even be considering.

Dr. Bruce Katz is Clinical Professor of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Director of the Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Clinic at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Director of the Juva Skin & Laser Center in New York. The man knows his cosmetic procedures and he is going to enlighten us with the quick points we need to know about the vampire facial.  Continue Reading

To continue my week of revealing personal stories I am going to tell you about the time I found out I had skin cancer. Yesterday I told you about the Rhinoplasty I had in 2008, and it is that story that intertwines with today’s story. I have mentioned to you in passing that skin cancer is a subject close to me and that I had a personal experience with it, but unless you went back to my posts from 2008 you wouldn’t know much else about it.

Today I am going to give you the full story about how my decision to have plastic surgery lead to me finding out I had skin cancer.  Continue Reading

To begin my week of personal stories I am going to start with the tale that saw me create The Plastic Diaries beauty blog. Many of you probably wouldn’t realise that’s where this blog started and that the name “The Plastic Diaries” was chosen because I created the blog as a way to keep a diary of my experience with plastic surgery. I also think I may have been watching The Princess Diaries at the time and it seemed a cute play on a classic chick flick ….. hence, The Plastic Diaries. Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
