I promised you more scoops on Sephora Australia and I’m about to deliver another one. While I was attending the exclusive Sephora Australia preview showcase I grabbed the Jamie Kern Lima, the co-founder of It Cosmetics, for an exclusive chat. Naturally, I had to film it so you could hear firsthand the information I got out of her. Continue Reading

There are only two types of people I will ever consider taking storage advice from – 1. the professional de-clutter experts on those hoarders TV shows, and 2. beauty bloggers. I’m yet to meet a beauty blogger who keeps their belongings and space to a minimum, but they’re some of the most organised and well-maintained individuals you can come across. When I found out I would be moving into a new house my first thought was, “NEW BEAUTY STORAGE!” (you’ll understand why after you see this).
If there were just one minority of people who knew how to expertly shop for beauty products it would have to be beauty bloggers. I’m heading to the USA soon and it’s been a long time since I stepped foot in my beloved beauty store, Sephora. By now I thought Sephora would be shipping to Australia but as we know, that isn’t happening. To assist me in preparing a shopping list I called on my fellow beauty bloggers from the Beauty Blog Coalition to tell me which one product they deemed an essential Sephora purchase. Continue Reading
I have been pretty stressed the past few weeks and it’s manifested in the form of blind pimples. In my opinion they are the worst kind of pimples. They sit beneath the surface, building pressure and there isn’t a head on them for you to burst. Mine generally form on my forehead or around my scalp line, which leaves me with a killer headache when the pressure is building up.
My mother believes the answer to all pimples is Methylated Spirits (aka Metho) to dry out the gunk. Personally, I don’t love the idea of putting something so astringent on a blind pimple because it has to travel through the skin, as opposed to a regular pimple that has a head. I figured it was about time to check with an expert what the best method was to eradicate them. Trilogy have just launched their new Blemish Control Gel so I took the opportunity to ask Trilogy’s in-house beauty expert, Corinne Morley, what exactly are blind pimples and how I can get rid of mine. As a passionate beauty consumer and an equally passionate animal rights activist, I like to think I know a little something about nearly everything but I’m also aware that the beauty industry is ever changing and thus I’m always learning something new. Usually, I love what I learn but on this occasion I do not love what I’ve learnt. I don’t like it at all. In fact, I’m horrified.
I read on Slashed Beauty (one of my favourite beauty blogs) about the Beat The Microbead campaign, an international campaign against the use of microbeads in cosmetics. I know exactly what you are thinking because I thought it too, “not another ‘bad guy’ the hippies want to ban”. I put my quick judgement aside and read what the deal is, and the result was my jaw on the floor. Shocked is an understatement.
Microbeads are bad, I’m going to tell you all about this secret killer we are all using everyday, why some cities are moving to ban them and what you can do/buy to avoid the ‘bad guy’. I’ve recruited Michelle Wong, Science PhD and Blogger at Lab Muffin, to break down the science speak for us. Continue Reading
