The Mineral Spa Hepburn Springs Fireplace

Since moving to Melbourne in May I have done little exploring of my new city or the state of Victoria. I’ve known about Victoria’s “spa country” for a few years but never managed to travel there in past visits to Melbourne or during the couple of years I lived here previously. When I was invited to visit The Mineral Spa I jumped at the opportunity to get away from my desk for a few hours and experience what the fuss was all about.

In my review I detail the unique offerings of The Mineral Spa and which treatment left me too relaxed to drive. Continue Reading

Desert Island Beauty Packing List

I can’t count the amount of times I’ve been asked what my desert island beauty picks would be. My answer is always sunscreen. Hands down, it’s the most important because without it we would burn to a crisp, dehydrate and die. But what if you knew you were going to a deserted island for 4 days, with 3 of your friends, a heap of beer and delicious meals? What beauty supplies would you need then? Well, that’s the exact situation I faced when I jetted off to XXXX Island in Queensland.

As a guest of my friend, Helen of SASSYBELLA.com, I was challenged to live the good life for a few days on the XXXX private island along with our friends Sophia of Moulin Frock and Nicole of Confidant Liar. So what the heck do I pack? The battle between the lazy Kimmi and the prepare-for-any-situation Kimmi fought it out to come up with the perfect beauty pack list. These are the crucial items I packed in my suitcase.  Continue Reading

Red Door Spa Union Square

I went to New York to bring you some beauty street style during the glitz of Fashion Week, but at the end of it all I thought I deserved a little time out. Whether you’re travelling for work, play or purpose it’s important to take some “me” time because even holidays can be stressful. It’s in these situations that I love to head to a spa and get a relaxing treatment. For this trip to New York I wanted to tick off a very important spa that has been on my bucket list for a few years, the Red Door Spa.

The Red Door Spa by Elizabeth Arden is the iconic gem in the empire. If you didn’t already know, Elizabeth Arden was a pioneer in the day spa industry having opened her first on Fifth Avenue in 1910. Now there is over 30 Red Door Spa locations in the USA but their newest is located at Union Square, New York. While it’s new and shiny, I had to go give it a good run through to see if it’s up to scratch.  Continue Reading

H&M Time Square Instagram Photo

I hadn’t been to New York since 2010 and having gone vegan in 2013 means that I was yet to venture to the big apple with my new lifestyle. I was keen to see which vegan delights I would uncover and thankfully NYC didn’t disappoint me. Unfortunately I was limited in time to discover everything on offer in New York but even with my time & location restrictions there were lots of delicious treats to enjoy. Here are some of my favourites. Continue Reading

Los Angeles Shopping Districts

It’s already been a couple of months since I returned from Los Angeles, USA and I’m greatly missing the sunny city. Aside from it being bitterly cold in Melbourne these past few weeks, it’s not just the weather that I love about LA. I’ve already shared with you my accommodation and dining experiences but I think I’ve saved the best for last …. shopping!

I’m going to share with you the shopping hot spots I always visit when I’m in the City of Angels.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
