I have been desperate for new shoes for the past 18months. It is hard to believe it has been that long since I really invested in a pair of shoes. Actually, I think I have only bought 1 pair in that entire time. You see, I have been trying to cull my wardrobe to only include things I truly need and actually wear, but shoes were my big problem. I have always been a collector of shoes and stopping the urge to buy a hundred pairs of shoes every month was the hardest thing I ever had to do. But after all that cleaning out I was left with a dozen or so shoes that look great but only 3 or so pairs were actually functional for day-to-day outings. I needed to buy a new pair of shoes and it wasn’t going to be easy.
Luck came my way at the end of last year when I won a $200 PeepToe gift card in a competition on Danimezza, which happens to be one of my favourite fashion blogs (even though Danielle mostly shows off plus-size fashion I still love her photography, writing and sense of style). I have always been a big fan of PeepToe jewellery but I had actually never bought a pair of shoes from them. They have such fabulous, sexy, over-the-top heels and but because my ankles are in such bad condition I am unable to wear many of their towering stilettos. When I found out I had won a PeepToe gift card (and had calmed down from the excitement) I made the resolution to not spend it until I have found the perfect pair of shoes for me.
Cut to me, last week walking through Westfield Sydney after a lunch date and I saw PeepToe were having a 20% off sale. I thought now would be a great time to check out the store and see if there were any heels for my crazy little feet. I was in luck and now I am ready to reveal my purchases.
I first spotted Miss Lolita sitting on a shelf in a patent nude leather, but when i asked the sales assistant to try them on she said they only had Red available in my size. I have never owned red shoes before but I thought what the hell, I will give it a go. When the lid of the box was removed, I melted.
The 9cm heel was the perfect height and the shiny blue-based red perfectly complimented my pale olive flesh. I tried them on in a 37 (which was my size when I last bought a pair of shoes) but they felt just a tad roomy so I then tried the 36 and they fit like a glove. A sexy, devilish red glove.
The retail price is $199 but because of the 20% off I got them for $159.20. That means I still had just over $40 left to spend on my gift card and I instantly ran for the jewellery displays where this cutie caught my eye …
A bevvy of these crystal rings were stacked and scattered all over the store. I took one look at the Fuschia and new it had to be mine. The coloured metal ring is completely covered in matching coloured rhinestones. I really wanted a few of the different shades but I thought I would start with one and see how I go.
The ring retails for $49 but once again that 20% off came in handy, dropping my price to $39.20.
