Samantha Wills is an Australian jewellery designer I have admired for as long as I can remember. I first discovered her pieces when I was working in magazines and they would send their jewellery in for use in the fashion spreads. I would see lots of the stylish editors donning her jewels and vowed that one day I would be one of them. It may have taken 10 years and an amazing sale but finally, I own a Samantha Wills ring.
If you aren’t familiar with Samantha Wills, you are probably thinking the jewellery must be thousands of dollars from the fact it took me 10 years to buy a piece but it is actually really affordable. My new ring, the Belle Dejour, retails for just $64 but I have never been able to justify investing in jewellery before. In fact, if you have been a longtime reader you may remember when I revealed that I only started understanding the importance of jewellery. However, by the time I had come to realise that jewellery was a necessity in creating a stylish outfit I owned my own business and that meant limited shopping funds for me.
I stalk a few bargain shopping sites and one of them is Ozsale. I was a member of their site since they opened but I actually hadn’t purchased anything until this year. I recently purchased a great wrap dress from Events and i thought I hit the jackpot, but when I saw they were having a Samantha Wills sale I teared up with excitement.
Most of the Samantha Wills pieces are a little loud for my tastes, I generally go for fine jewellery you can barely see, but there are pieces here or there that make me want to try something new. The Belle Dejour ring was one of those pieces. Available in Aqua or Peach, I chose Aqua as I find orange colours don’t usually work in my favour. The two signature aqua stones are surrounded by crystals and set on an antique gold band. My version is surrounded by black crystals while the one available through retailers features clear crystals. I actually much prefer mine because it is dark and unique. I love it. And the best part, the price. This ring retails for AUS $65 but I scored mine for just $25.
On the downside mine didn’t come with the signature SW wooden box but I am quite ok with that because I have no room for chunky storage. As for sizing, it came in Small/Medium which is too big for my tiny child hands but a little tape on the underside to fatten it up solved the problem.
I am so glad I made this purchase and I think this could have started my obsession with chunky Samantha Wills jewellery. Ozsale no longer has the sale running but you can still buy this ring from Samantha Wills (they ship worldwide!).
