Winter Fashion Essentials

Moving to a colder climate just in time for winter probably wasn’t the smartest decision, especially because I had no clothes prepared for such a bitter winter. Over the past couple of months I’ve been purchasing wisely to ensure I have something to wear when the temperature drops to disturbingly cold levels. I have to admit it’s been a little hard sticking to my plan of only buying classic pieces that will be transeasonal and within my budget. Sure, if budget was no limit I would just go buy a few Burberry jackets but unfortunately I can’t do that right now.

Here are my latest fashion buys keeping me warm during the chilly season.

Lee Jeans

The High Licks aren’t something I’d usually go for but on advice to try a higher rise in order to flatter my ass, I took a leap of faith. These ones are perfect – high rise, skinny cut and fit like a glove – perfect for small waists and a curvy butt. I  got the Short length which means they perfectly sit at my ankles, and I love that they have zips on the inner ankle. I purchased these in the B-Side Blue rinse which seems to be no longer be available. The closest wash around now is the Mineral rinse but they also come in a range of shades like Lux Black. I’ve received non-stop compliments on how skinny I look when I wear these.

I don’t usually go for sweatshirts or jumpers, they are rarely flattering to big boobs, but the Fluffy Knit Sweater from Glassons is different. It’s available in heaps of colours but the black has been a winner for me. It’s circle neck isn’t too high or too low, it’s incredibly soft and it’s not chunky like most fluffy sweaters. You can still see your shape without being swallowed by the jumper and that’s a winner for me in winter because I usually feel ugly carrying extra bulk. I’m thinking of buying the navy one while it’s on sale.

I really needed some winter appropriate footwear and ballet flats just weren’t cutting it. A classic pair of black ankle boots was on the menu and I found the ideal pair with the Jada Black boots. The chunky heel makes them comfortable while still being a flattering height for my legs, they pointed toe is wide and they go with absolutely everything!

I couldn’t stop at one pair of jeans. It’s such an effort to try on jeans and if I find two I like I have to give in. Finding jeans that actually make you feel confident with your body is rare. The Mid Licks in Black Night are the perfect day-to-night jeans for me. They can be dressed up or down, and equally flattering on my body shape as the high licks. Once again, the Short length means they sit at an ideal length and I don’t need to take them up.
