Acacia Senegal

Acacia senegal is a sub-Saharan species of tree from which flowers and gum (more commonly known by its technical name gum arabic) are derived. Gum arabic is primarily used in the food and cosmetic industries as a binding agent and can be found in cosmetic formulations such as mascara and hair styling products. Gum arabic is also a demulcent that is used for its anti-inflammatory properties. Acacia gum and flower extracts are traditionally used in herbal remedies for a variety of ailments.
