Lysine

An essential amino acid (the building blocks of protein). It is not synthesised by the body, and must be obtained from food sources such as legumes and fish. Lysine is one of the four main amino acids found in collagen, the protein that forms the structural grid of the skin. Used as an anti-static and conditioning agent in cosmetic products, there is no evidence that topical application of lysine stimulates collagen production.
