Resorcinol

A white crystalline compound obtained from resins and used in topical applications as a disinfectant or antiseptic, to treat acne, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff and other skin disorders. It is also the main active ingredient in many hair dyes as a colour component. Resorcinol can be very irritating to skin and may cause an allergic reaction in some people.
