Best New Beauty October blog post

You’d think October would be exclusively reserved for Halloween themed beauty but nope, Christmas is wiggling its way in. The best new beauty October products are mostly dominated with Holiday collections but I’ve tried sticking to just the solo new products that really thrilled me. I will be posting separate gift guides a little later on for all those cool Holiday collections.

For now, discover the best of the best with my Best New Beauty October round-up.

ASOS

Fashion retailers branching into beauty isn’t a new thing but this month global giant ASOS released their makeup range, ASOS Face + Body. The collection is decently sized at just over 40 pieces, to start. Lipsticks have the biggest line-up at 17 items split between matte and satin bullets, and matte liquid lipsticks. The rest of the line consists of blush, lip liner, highlight, contour, brows, eyeliner, mascara and a number of eyeshadow palettes. The range is mostly vegetarian and vegan-friendly (see the list here).

Australia – Prices start at $10 from ASOS

USA – Prices start at $8 from ASOS

UK – Prices start at £5 from ASOS

Real Techniques

Baubles are being done a bit different this year with the Real Techniques limited edition Christmas collection. The collection  includes six mini and regular sized tools inspired by some of the most popular Real Techniques tools. I’m particularly drawn to the Midnight Mini Medium Sculpting Brush, which has a tavel-sized handle with a medium-sized head. Each bauble is priced the same and they make for perfect stocking fillers or Kris Kringle gifts.

Australia $15.99 from Priceline and Real Techniques

USA $5.99 from ULTA Beauty and Amazon

UK £3.89 from iHerb

Glow Lab

Perhaps it’s the stylish, feminine packaging with rose gold details that won me over. Perhaps it’s Glow Lab’s philosophy (“that every woman deserves effective skincare to give them back their glow”) that resonates with me so much. I can’t be 100% sure on the reason, but I do know that I’m totally taken with Glow Lab. The new skin & body brand was created by a New Zealand company, Earthwise Group, that already specialises in enviro-friendly body, baby and house products. The Glow Lab will launch with 11 products, including a Treat Yourself Mini Pack consisting of their Facial Moisturiser, Crème Cleanser, Body Lotion, Night Cream and Facial Serum.

Models Prefer

When it comes to home brands you generally don’t find the best quality goods, but Models Prefer is one brand that has pushed that stereotype off a cliff. Priceline’s own cosmetic brand continually launches makeup range after makeup range but this month they start rolling out their Christmas collections. One of those pieces has particularly captured my attention, the All-in-One Collection. The 16-pan tin contains 9 eyeshadows, 4 blush/bronzer/illuminators, 3 lipglosses, a dual-ended eyeshadow brush and a mirror. The packaging is really sturdy (it’s the same as Urban Decay’s Naked3 Palette) so all up it makes for the perfect on-the-go or travel palette.

Covergirl

Liquid lipsticks aren’t going anywhere (yay!) but I think the new Melting Pout range from Covergirl sounds particularly interesting. It boasts a gel formula that moisturises lips as it colours. It similar packaging to Too Faced’s Melted lipsticks, including a soft, felt-like precision applicator. The shade range is small, though, at just 5 colours being launched in Australia. Internationally you get more than double that and I’m sure they will expand it if it proves popular.

Australia $14.95 from Priceline, Target, supermarkets and selected pharmacies.

USA $8.99 from ULTA Beauty, Target, Amazon, CVS, Walgreens and Walmart.

UK – Unavailable at time of publishing.

Burt’s Bees

I openly admit my aversion to Mint but the new Cucumber Mint Lip Balm from Burt’s Bees caught my attention. The lip balm is infused with cucumber fruit extract to moisturise and soften the lips and a hint of peppermint oil which gives a cool, refreshing tingle. Perfect for summer, hey?

Australia $6.95 from David JonesPriceline and selected stockists.

USA $3.29 from TargetULTA Beauty and Walgreens
