Eeeek, is that really the date already? I know August is well and truly over but I can’t pass up sharing my favourites for the month. As for the delay in posting it, well, I blame New York Fashion Week. You’ll soon see why that took up so much of my time.
It was a somewhat slow month for new launches, with only 28 new products gracing my desk, but nearly all of them grabbed my attention and many of them will be fronting some big advertising campaigns over the coming months. I’m sure this won’t be the first nor last you see of them
The more I travel the more I realise the value of having a good hairdryer in your luggage. The ones available in hotel rooms really are shocking, but so are most “travel hairdryers” – they just don’t pack a punch. That was until I met the AC Pro Twist Dryer. It has a professional AC motor which promises to deliver three times longer life and powerful, high velocity air-flow. The handle is pretty nifty as it tucks straight under the blowdryer and it comers with a travel bag for easy storage.

Aging skin can cause some trouble when searching for a good foundation. What used to work for you 10-20 years ago will unlikely work when you have wrinkles, enlarged pores and dehydrated skin. The new Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup SPF 25 could be the answer you’re looking for as it’s a foundation boosted with Estee Lauder’s youth-enhancing Perfectionist [CP+R] Serum. It helps with the appearance of fine lines, gives your skin a healthy glow and comes in 16 shades.

I’m a big fan of the colour cosmetics from Natio not just because the majority of their items are vegan but because they really do produce outstanding quality products for an unbelievable price. This month it’s their Blush & Bronze palettes that are winning my heart. Available in two varieties – Rosy Glow and Sunkissed – they each contain 5 segments of colour you can use individually or combined for a custom complexion.

My fascination with liquid liner isn’t budging, and neither are the new ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liners from Revlon. The fine, precision tip is attached to a long, slim wand that makes controlling the placement easy. There are currently 4 shades available – Black Out, Electric Blue, Mahogany Flame and Green Spark.
UK £7.99 from Boots
Fighting pimples is becoming a recurring skin concern for me so I was excited to be introduced to Beta Gel, a spot treatment with high-powered active ingredients. The lightweight, oil-free gel has been formulated with salicylic acid, niacinamide and dioic acid which penetrates quickly and creates an invisible film over the blemish once dried.

The new Nutri-Define range consists of three hydrating treatment products you can use as part of your everyday skincare routine. They say the secret weapon is Biosome5 – a patent-pending technology to deliver key ingredients. It’s definitely one for those who are seeing major signs of aging so if that’s you, perhaps give this new new serum, day cream and night cream a try.
I adore the golden touches on the packaging as it lends to the luxurious feel of the products.

They do say that Cleopatra bathed in milk to keep her skin soft and supple, but would you have guessed it was donkey milk? I can’t find any definitive word on which kind of milk was used in her baths but Napoleon Perdis swears that donkey milk is the best one for the job. As a vegan I’m not sure if that creeps me out more than it would an omnivore but I must admit it intrigues me. The new Auto Pilot Hydrating Milk Cleanser assures us that the organic donkey milk used in this cleanser is packed full of vitamins and essential fatty acids to calm and balance your skin.

Who doesn’t love a little makeover? Nivea have just given their beloved range of body lotions a new look on the outside and a booster on the inside. The range comes in a new curvy look bottle and still contains Hydra IQ Technology, but the real winner is the Irresistibly Smooth Body Lotion which now contains DOUBLE the amount of shea butter. My legs are definitely needing that before I put on any spring dresses.

I love the limited edition candles Ecoya create and this season they have really won me over with the Guava & Lychee Sorbet fragrance. It’s the perfect scent to get me out of winter and into spring, and it has me dreaming of the hot summer air just around the corner. Additionally, it just looks darn gorgeous in the Madison Jar sealed with a silver lid.

I’ve never been to the Orient but until I do i’m choosing to believe that it would smell something like the new Majestic Rose fragrance from YSL. This eau de parfum is one of 4 fragrances to make up the new Oriental Collection. I’m not usually a fan of rose scents but this one has some woody notes that makes it much more suited to my style. It’s only available in an 80ml size so it’s quite an investment but it looks absolutely gorgeous on my dresser. Dare I say it but all 4 would look even better!

I feel like it’s been quite some time since we saw a completely new fragrance from DKNY, not just a new version of an established family. MYNY is definitely a new drop in the DKNY range and I’m hearting it, which is appropriate because the bottle is actually shaped like a heart (and topped with a silver metallic skyline to represent NYC). Aside from the awesome bottle the eau de parfum itself is pretty good too – top notes of raspberries, galbanum and accents of pink pepper, floral middle notes of jasmine, freesia, and roots of orris, and base notes of patchouli, vanilla absolute, musk and ambergris.
