It’s been a slow start in the world of beauty launches for 2014. In fact it is so slow I just thought I would have a lazy start to the year and take a month to share my favourites. Most of the industry really kicks up the new launches from February, but some brands wanted to sneak in early and make an impact in January.
We saw 40+ fabulous new products launch in January across all beauty categories. Read on to find out which goodies in hair, nails, makeup and more took our fancy.
Dry, brittle hair be gone! The new Dry Remedy range is designed to drench hair with much-needed moisture. The system uses a shampoo, conditioner, masque and daily oil to build strength as well as hydrate hair to make it soft, shiny and smooth. The wet hair products have an aroma of organic lavender, bergamot and ginger lily that rings true to Aveda’s affiliation with nature.
The oil is 99.9% naturally derived (with no silicones) and is made from certified organic buriti oil from Brazil.

2014 will be the year of the CC Cream. We had the early rumblings of it in the western world last year but this year we will see nearly every beauty brand release their version. First off the rank this year is the 123 Perfect collection from Bourjois, which includes CC Cream and CC Eye Cream. Unlike other CC products that require you to pick one colour and therefore one problem to target, 123 Perfect CC has been formulated with 3 pigments – apricot for anti-fatigue, green for anti-redness and white tea for dark spots and pigmentation.

I love a colour coordinated makeup collection so the Love Birds limited edition sets released for Valentine’s Day were an absolute winner in my opinion. Packaged in a gorgeous cosmetic case directly inspired by Napoleon’s favourite work by Australian painter Felicia Aroney, the set contains a matching lip gloss and nail lacquer in 5 shades – Dove (white pearl), Flamingo (hot pink crème), Gold Finch (nude with a hint of shimmer), Skylark (chocolate crème) and White Swan (pale lavender with a kiss of pink).
Australia $49 from David Jones and Napoleon Perdis concept stores.
USA $36 from Nordstrom
The blur is coming. This month Garnier have partnered with Priceline in Australia to launch their long-awaited Perfect Blur Smoothing Base Perfector. Just like you would expect from a top performing primer, Perfect Blur visibly blurs the signs of ageing by filling and smoothing skin. It uses light reflecting pigments to visually diminish wrinkles, pores and irregularities.
Australia $16.95 from Priceline
UK £12.99 from Boots
I’m a fan of strong, professional skin treatments but the aftermath can require a little more TLC than my usual skincare products may offer. Medik8 obviously understand that as they are one of the leaders in professional skin therapies, so it makes sense they would come up with their latest product, Ultimate Recovery. In basic terms it’s a facial cream for intensive support of skin regeneration, ideal for use after treatments such as laser, ipl, peels, microdermabrasion and other non-surgical or surgical cosmetic enhancements.

UK £35 from professional salons, doctor’s offices and professional skin clinics. Find a stockist.
