October. It came, and now it’s practically gone. We still have Halloween to celebrate and it will kick off what is officially known as the madness of holiday season. Are you ready for it? Do you have everything you need? Do you have everything you want? NEVER, we know there is always new things to need and want, that’s why I do this round-up of brilliant new products each month.
Over 70 products new to launch in October landed on my desk and it was a tough gig picking my favourites, as it is every month. Surprisingly it was the Body category that had the most newbies but I guess this is expected as the temperature warms up in Australia and we start to bare our skin. Which were the most exciting of them all? I reveal them to you now.
Curl Secret has been a huge success globally and there is little way they could possibly improve, but this month VS Sassoon did find a way by partnering with respected Australian fashion designer Gail Elliot of Little Joe Women. This special Curl Secret set includes a limited edition Curl Secret featuring a butterfly-themed travel and storage bag designed exclusively by Gail Elliott. Its perfect for girls who struggle with curling tongs and this set makes a wonderful Christmas present.

Maybelline New York
The summer brights have officially arrived in the form of Maybelline’s Color Show Bleached Neons collection but these aren’t quick as neon as the name would leave you to believe. They are like a washed-out neon. Bright, but pastel. It’s definitely unique but a fun colourful way to get in the spirit of summer. Available in Chic Chartreuse, Tropink, Coral Heat and Sun Flare.
Australia $5.95 from Priceline, selected pharmacies and variety stores.
USA $7.56 from ASOS
UK £3.99 from Boots
The new Studio Nails range from Essence has all your nail care needs covered but the stand-out for me was the Pro White Glow. This pink-transparent nail polish enhances the natural colour of your nails and visibly lightens the tips. It’s great if your nails are a little stained but you want to give them a rest from nail lacquer, or if you need to keep your nails subdued but hate going bare.

Rosehip by Essano
Rosehip oil has long been touted as one of the great weapons in maintaining good skin. Many beauty brands now have a rosehip oil in their offering but if you really want to see benefits you should make sure you get an organic one. The new Certified Organic Rosehip Oil from essano delivers on more than its name. It also includes a boost of acai berry antioxidants, it’s vegan-friendly and free of nasties, and the price is great for a 45ml bottle.
Australia $34.99 from Priceline and selected Woolworths
I’ve been using the same Oral-B Triumph 5000 since 2010 and I absolutely love it, it’s still going strong, but I’ve come to learn that technology has advanced even further in just 4 years. The new SmartSeries 7000 is the most innovative and most connected design to date. The coolest aspect is the Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity which helps you be completely OCD about how well you brushed your teeth by connecting to an app on your smartphone.

Nip + Fab
You may have seen young, hip celebrities (Kylie Jenner, I’m looking at you!) raving about these products and finally we can too now that they’ve arrived in Australia. The range was created by the founder of Rodial who wanted to allow her targeted solution-based products to fit in a more affordable budget. Majority of the line is vegan-friendly (just the Bee Venom range has animal derivatives) and they have something for every beauty concern you could imagine. My top picks, the fix it range of skin firming and cellulite busting lotions.

Jurlique’s newest trio are completely welcome at my house this month as they focus on three very important categories – sun protection, tanning and after-sun care. The Sun Specialist range includes SPF40 High Protection Cream, Sunless Tanner for face and body, and After Sun Replenishing Moisturising Lotion.

Trust me, I’m more shocked than you are that this is on my list but the new You & I fragrance from One Direction is actually quite a pleasant surprise. The fruity floral has a fun, upbeat scent that makes me want to go frolic on the beach and pretend I’m 16 again without a care in the world. You don’t need to be a tween or teenager to enjoy this softly romantic eau de parfum.

It’s super rare that we highlight a men’s product in this series but the new VS for Men Crew Cut is possible the coolest hair tool I’ve ever seen. Now of course, this tool isn’t just for men because I know lots of women who rock killer crew cuts as well, so this is for you too! The clipper’s unique rotary cutting system and surround comb guide help maintain an even haircut for grades 1-4. It’s super easy to use and it’s even kind of fun to watch. Additionally, it comes with a battery-operated trimmer for sideburns, ears and neckline so this is really an awesome bundle. No joke, I even considered cutting my hair off so I could try it!
