Best vegan beauty products

I’m honoured to have a guest post from one of my favourite vegan bloggers, Chelsey from Like A Vegan. Proving that veganism isn’t all about eating lettuce and wearing Crocs, Chelsey shows us how wonderfully colourful life can be as a vegan. And she is hilarious. No lectures, scare tactics or horrifying images of mutilated animals. Chelsey brings humor, fun and energy to life without cruelty – and now she is doing it here with this awesome post about her favourite vegan beauty products.

Kat Von D Lock-It Hydrating Primer*

While I’m a bit of a flake when it comes to religiously using primer, Kat Von D’s Lock-It Hydrating Primer may just be the one to change my ways. A super lightweight, hydrating formula makes it so easy and quick to apply without feeling like you’ve got a load of layers on your face once foundation is applied.

Australia $46 from Sephora

USA $32 from Kat Von D and Sephora

UK £24 from Debenhams

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation*

With 20% water and an SPF of 15, Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation is where it’s at for buildable, lightweight coverage. Wearing this stuff feels like you’re wearing nothing at all and the semi-matte finish leaves skin looking even and fresh without looking too airbrushed. I use this foundation along with the Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer and matching foundation brush to get the best result.

Australia – Get it from Tarte Cosmetics

USA $39 from Tarte CosmeticsSephora

UK – Get it from Tarte Cosmetics

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal*

While not all shades in the range are vegan, BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal is one of the vegan-friendly products. This stuff isn’t a cult hit for no reason – it creates the perfect, buildable shimmer and makes your skin glow in all the right places.

Australia $48 from Adore Beauty and FarFetch

USA $38 from Sephora and Ulta

UK £32 from Cult Beauty and Space NK

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner*

Yep, ya girl Kat is getting another mention here because her Tattoo Liner is seriously one of the dopest beauty products you’ll ever try – vegan or not. It’s pretty darn easy to apply evenly which is good because this sucker won’t budge until you want it to (and then it comes of easily with makeup remover).

Australia $28 from Sephora

USA $20 from Kat Von D and Sephora

UK £16 from Debenhams

Milk Lip Marker in TKO

I’m seriously the absolute worst when it comes to buying a tonne of lip products with every intention of wearing them but barely touching them at all. One product that always finds itself at the top of my makeup bag is my Milk Lip Marker. It looks like a texta but it’s a long lasting, highly pigmented lip stain and the hot-pink shade of TKO is perfect for summer.

Australia – Get it from Urban Outfitters

USA $20 from Milk MakeupSephora and Urban Outfitters

UK – Get it from Sephora

NOTE: It’s important to note that cruelty-free doesn’t necessarily mean vegan – always check the ingredients or contact the company for a list of vegan-friendly products. Products marked with * above are made by cruelty-free companies however they’re owned by parent companies who still continue to participate in animal testing.
