I love Urban Decay, they make such great quality products and have a large offering of vegan products too. Their continued stubbornness over making their products accessible to the Australian market has been infuriating but with Sephora’s Australian store opening in Sydney soon, I think we will have UD on our shores before 2014 is over. So while I’m excited about that, those of you in the USA can get excited about a store opening that has never been done anywhere else in the world …. a freestanding Urban Decay store.
The store will be opening at Fashion Island Shopping Centre in Newport Beach, California. It’s not far from the Urban Decay Headquarters in Newport beach where the brand was founded. Even though it will be inside a shopping centre, it’s not going to be small by any means. Reportedly, the 1,000-square-foot store will have 6 makeup stations, a digital video wall, wood flooring, a bathroom wallpapered in pictures of Urban Decay’s employees’ dogs (cute!) and a 100-inch chandelier.
There’s no official word on whether the store will stock exclusive cosmetic products or special editions that aren’t available at their retail partners, such as Sephora, Ulta and Macy’s. However, the brand will experiment with new items including more shades in their eye shadow and complexion ranges, and mix in lifestyle products such as T-shirts, mugs, headphones and bags. As a committed UD fan I would definitely be keen to grab some branded gear.
While we wait for an exact date this first store will open, we are told it will happen before November. Will they roll out more stores all over the globe? I really hope so!
