Proactiv Advanced Blemish Pimple Cream

I don’t know what it is but pimples have been attacking my face the past few months. I know I’ve been exceptionally stressed, and that accounts for the majority of my breakouts, but I’m thinking there is an underlying cause I need to investigate. I’ve never had many breakouts in my years and I was hoping to skate through life with few more. Seeing as though that hasn’t been the case recently, I’ve turned to blemish spot treatments to help me over a few lumpy breakouts until I get my skin on track. I’ve never used, nor had a need to use, Proactiv Solution products but when I found the little tube of Advanced Blemish Cream buried deep in a box of skincare products I thought now would be the time to give it a go.

Do you need acne in order to use Proactiv? Will Proactiv work for my dry, mildly-blemished skin? Does Proactiv really work for Adam Levine, Julianne Hough and Naya Rivera? My review reveals the answers, except for that last question (who knows what works for celebrities!?!). Continue Reading

Best new beauty product launches

Eeeek, is that really the date already? I know August is well and truly over but I can’t pass up sharing my favourites for the month. As for the delay in posting it, well, I blame New York Fashion Week. You’ll soon see why that took up so much of my time.

It was a somewhat slow month for new launches, with only 28 new products gracing my desk, but nearly all of them grabbed my attention and many of them will be fronting some big advertising campaigns over the coming months. I’m sure this won’t be the first nor last you see of them Continue Reading

Avéne Clearance Spot Treatment

The last few months I’ve been suffering terribly with the odd pimple popping up. I learnt how to treat blind pimples, which has been very helpful, but it hasn’t stopped them from occurring. In my case I know I get stress pimples, but until I master the art of relaxation I’m using every product I can to keep the pimples at bay.

The Avene Cleanance Spot Treatment is a product designed for my exact problem. Using what I learnt about blind pimples I reached for this product over the last 2 months as a pimple made itself visible. Now I can share my review of how well it worked.  Continue Reading

Rico Zombie Boy with Normal Skin

That guy looks like a regular, spunky dude, doesn’t he? Nothing all that flash. Some good cheekbones, a bad-boy gaze, attitude …. doesn’t really appear to need a makeover. Actually, that photo above IS THE MAKEOVER.

Say Whaaaat Eddie Murphy Coming To America

Say whaaaat?

This post is going to show you just how incredible makeup really is. While most of our everyday interactions with makeup may just be to add a little colour to our lives, the fact is that makeup can and does much more than that. I’ve always believed makeup isn’t just for the use of shallow humans who desire to improve their looks for frivolous reasons. No reason for using makeup is without purpose and I do believe whatever that purpose may be is perfectly acceptable.

These beauty transformations will show you that makeup is a powerful tool, and one that has changed many lives.  Continue Reading

Blind Pimple

I have been pretty stressed the past few weeks and it’s manifested in the form of blind pimples. In my opinion they are the worst kind of pimples. They sit beneath the surface, building pressure and there isn’t a head on them for you to burst. Mine generally form on my forehead or around my scalp line, which leaves me with a killer headache when the pressure is building up.

My mother believes the answer to all pimples is Methylated Spirits (aka Metho) to dry out the gunk. Personally, I don’t love the idea of putting something so astringent on a blind pimple because it has to travel through the skin, as opposed to a regular pimple that has a head. I figured it was about time to check with an expert what the best method was to eradicate them. Trilogy have just launched their new Blemish Control Gel so I took the opportunity to ask Trilogy’s in-house beauty expert, Corinne Morley, what exactly are blind pimples and how I can get rid of mine.  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
