Best new beauty products Dec 2013

As 2013 comes to a close we are squeezing in one last month of new beauty launches that gained our interest. December is often a slow month for new launches as the focus turns to holiday gifting and repromoting of earlier releases, and this year was no different. Nevertheless, there were still a number of standout beauty products that got me salivating this month.

Take a look at our top new beauty buys and let us know what took your fancy this month. Continue Reading

It is never too early to care for your skin, and I mean never. Many people usually wait until they have something they don’t like about their skin before looking for something to solve their problem, but like most things in life prevention is usually the best solution. The new Anew Aqua Youth line from Avon works follows that manta.

Targeted at consumers in their 20’s, Anew Aqua Youth is designed to keep facial skin fit and healthy. The line was included as one of my favourite new beauty products to launch in October, and today I am reviewing the face cleanser for you.  Continue Reading

It is Halloween month and my most favourite time of the year to see spooky makeup looks and ghoulish nails. Other than Halloween though, the beauty front will be a little quiet for new launches this October. There were just over 50 products keeping me busy to consider for my monthly favourites but I got through them and I have come up with these top picks.

Don’t forget to tell me what has taken your fancy this month! Continue Reading

Over the last couple of months three brands have released brand new skincare products that could literally change the face of skincare. As I am such a lover of good skin, I wanted to share with you these new products so you can stay up to date on the latest developments.

If there is one industry that is constantly improving itself, it is skincare. A staggering amount of research and development goes into creating a skincare product, and not just new ones, even ones that have been on the market for years. Finding better ingredients and new delivery methods seems to be the one thing skincare scientists concentrate on the most. In my opinion, La Prairie, Avon and Skin Doctors should be very proud of their new developments.

Let’s take a closer look.

La Prairie – Cellular Power Infusion

One brand that will never cease to amaze me is La Prairie. Every single one of their products I have tried have made me fall head over heals in love. The new serum set is the first release in what will be a new category for La Prairie, Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
