Sneakers. They’re a pretty basic, essential footwear item, right? Not for me they weren’t. In the past I’ve been notoriously allergic to exercise and one great way to get out of it was to not own any appropriate footwear. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a pair of runners in my cupboard on and off since my school years but they rarely saw sunlight. That all changed late last year when I underwent a forefoot reconstruction. As a result it has forced me into wearing sneakers regularly. The healing process is a good 12months and in that time it’s recommended to wear runners, sneakers or any shoe that isn’t too tight or form fitting. My poor, sad collection of heels have been locked away this year but luckily sneakers are so acceptable as fashion footwear these days because I’ve been able to get away with wearing them to some pretty unconventional places. Pimples don’t stop making themselves present just because you turn 25. In fact, I believe I’ve had more pimples as an adult than I ever had as a pre-teen or teenager. Stress, diet, hormones and environmental changes are something that have contributed greatly to my recent season of breakouts. I have a pretty solid daily skincare regime but when the occasional breakout rears its ugly head I don’t go changing my entire routine. I break out a spot treatment instead.

Dry skin needs a lot of extra TLC in my opinion. If you want smooth, healthy skin you have to fight to keep it hydrated, especially in summer. Internal and external sources of hydration are important to all skin types but extra dry skin can take a little more work to keep the thirst quenched. My dry skin is pretty tough and can get through most conditions relatively unharmed but in summer my legs can get so dry they reveal scales.
I need a body lotion that will hydrate my dry skin but is gentle enough on irritations as well as being highly effective to work fast and help my skin build a stronger barrier. Sephora’s Australian store opening in Sydney was the biggest thing to happen to Australian beauty fans this year. It was a highly anticipated and despite a lot of negativity from some of the online community overall the launch was a massive success. The majority of people are happy or accepting of the pricing but with a lot of the final brand details withheld until opening day, I haven’t been able to give you a run-down of the brands and products that impressed me most.
