Spring Clean Makeup Bag

Spring is almost over for me but I still thought I should do a little spring clean of my makeup bag before I hit summer. I like to pick out a bunch of new products to keep in my makeup bag for an entire season, and occasionally change out one or two products when I am trialling. I don’t like to trial all new products at the same time because if I have a bad reaction to something I won’t be able to narrow down the perpetrator.

The contents of this makeup bag is the makeup products I used mostly throughout Autumn. These are my day-to-day products which I like to keep neutral or trans-seasonal so when I am in a rush I can throw it on and know I won’t look out of place. All my other makeup is within easy reach so if I feeling like something different I can grab an eyeshadow or lipstick to change it up.  Continue Reading

Valentine's Day

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!

To those who celebrate this holiday (?) I wish you lots of love, peace and joy. I personally like to celebrate Valentine’s Day by eating as much boxed chocolate as I can, adorning my nails with Valentine’s Day prettiness and playing with the girliest of girly makeup. And when it comes to beauty products, is there anything more girly than love hearts? I think not.

Here are my top picks for love heart inspired beauty.  Continue Reading

After tempting you yesterdays with the newest collections from M.A.C Cosmetics, I want to focus a little more on the one that has left me daydreaming, Glitter & Ice.

The first thing that really stood out to me about this collection is the obvious White packaging. I think it looks superb and plays into the collections winter theme perfectly.

Today I am showing you two of the Mineralize Eyeshadows and one of the new Dazzleglass releases.

Mineralize Eyeshadow

AU $42 / US $19.50 from November 2011

Sad confession, I have never owned a M.A.C Cosmetics Mineralize eyeshadow before. I have wanted one for as long as I can remember, but my luck at finding the colours I want hasn’t been great. Actually, it hasn’t happened at all. I am always too late to the party!

It may only be October but we all know Christmas will sneak up on us, like it does every year. In the beauty world, all the christmas gift sets start to appear late October, so you will start to see a lot of online and print talking about the new releases. Personally, I wanted to share these images with you as soon as I saw them. So excited!!

First up, I am going to show you M.A.C Cosmetics because it is the brand I have most recently fallen in love with. Yes, I am one of those sad people who are now addicted to M.A.C. BUT, if you really knew me, you would know that eventually I will become addicted to any beauty brand. It is a sickness.

Anyway … on with the show. First up we have Glitter & Ice. Pop over to today’s other posts for Ice Parade and the Dazzlesphere! collections.

I will share with you individual images and more details very soon. For now, enjoy this snippet.

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
