L'Oreal Paris Wild Ombres Polly Header

Ombre is still the biggest trend in hair colour and it isn’t going to back off any time soon. I have wanted to do a little ombre in my hair for quite some time but I have been too afraid to fork out the cash for an expensive hair salon to do it if I don’t think it is going to look good. When L’Oreal Paris released their new Wild Ombres hair dye which allows you to DIY ombre at home, I instantly jumped at the chance to try it and I knew it was going to be something I just had to review for you.

Currently available in just a few select shades, Helen from SASSYBELLA.com and I had a brainwave to team up to see just how easy it was to use these products. Helen did my hair which you can read all about and see a snazzy video on SASSYBELLA.com. Then it was my turn to tackle our friend Polly’s overgrown blonde balayage. Could the Wild Ombres hair dye restore Polly to blonde ombre glory? Read my review and see the photos to find out.  Continue Reading

New Release Beauty Favourites April 2013

Wow. April flew by a little too quick for my liking. With all the madness of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia I completely lost track of time. Who knew 5 days of madness can create a black hole for time. I may have left it to the first day of May but I am not too late to share with you some of my favourite beauty products to launch in April … right?!?

April was a mammoth month for new beauty. A total of 87 new products crossed my path but not all were made equally. There were lots of new Mother’s Day gift-worthy releases but I am going to save those for another post. For now, these are the new April products topping my list. Continue Reading

Balayage is almost a dirty word in my eyes. The beauty world talk about it so much I feel it has lost all meaning. Not surprisingly, most people don’t even know what Balayage is. I was one of those people until just a few years ago but then I found this article on Primped and it helped me a lot. Once I knew what it was, I was able to make the decision as to whether I liked it or not. Until now, I did not!

In my eyes, I could’t understand why you would bleach the hell out of random parts of their hair when the results could be so hit-or-miss. This slideshow on Primped is a perfect example of the different varieties of ‘Balayage’. I love the Balayage style Ashley Simpson and Sophia Bush had. The question is, would it look any good on me? Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
