Milk & Co Face Cleanser

Milk & Co is a brand created by two of Australia’s favourite celebrities – Michael & Lindy Klim. What started out as a brand for men’s and baby beauty products has grown into a gorgeous lifestyle brand, now including skincare for women too. Lindy draws inspiration from her Balinese roots (her dad is Balinese) and from growing up in clean & crisp Tasmania (her mom is Australian). This history is evident in her products and the use of natural ingredients along with being made in Australia made this a brand I was keen to try.

I started with the face cleanser as it came highly recommended so I’m going to review it for you. Will this inspire me to keep trying the line or will I throw in the towel? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Sun Sets Behind Tree at Tanah Lot Bali

Deciding to take a holiday was not an easy decision for me. I knew I wanted one, I knew I needed one but actually taking one and committing to relaxing was a whole different story. In my pre-holiday post I told you about why I had chosen Bali and where I was going to stay. Upon my return I wasn’t sure I even wanted to write about my experience. I’m not sure why, perhaps because I thought I wanted to have just one thing to myself instead of revealing it all on the blog as I always do, but naturally I had the revelation that I created this blog for women just like me who have trouble taking time for themselves and need to be motivated to do it. So for you, I write this post.  Continue Reading

Le Meridien Serenity Spa

The whole purpose of my holiday in Bali was to do nothing, and least of all to do work, but reviewing spas is one of my most favourite past times so I allowed myself to do just one. That is fair, isn’t it? Picking one wasn’t easy but when I heard from the team at the shiny new Le Méridien Bali Jimbaran about their signature treatments I couldn’t pass up the chance to give them a try. I selected the Cradle & Expand Treatment based on this interesting blurb in the menu:

The cradle-and-expand massage is performed to one guest by two of our therapists working in a rhythmic harmony method inspired by traditional Thai massage. Engage through the power of deep breathing and stretching to lengthen your spine and relax the tired muscles.

It is definitely not a regular treatment you would expect to see in a spa menu, so in my eyes that makes it the ultimate tester for this spa. How did I go? Read my review to find out!  Continue Reading

Seminyak Square Market Stalls Bali

It seems like a distant dream but last week I was sitting poolside with a delicious juice cocktail in the tropical surroundings of Bali. For a place that never appealed to me previously it was amazing how at peace I felt there. I have no doubt that was in no small part to the surreal accommodation choice I made (but more on that later). One thing I had absolutely no intention of doing was shopping of any kind. I went to relax and as much as I love shopping I still had fears about shopping in a country where english wasn’t a first language. But alas, I failed to stick to my guns and I did go shopping.

I discovered some great places to shop. Some you probably have heard of from every person who ever stepped foot on the island but I think I have one or two you may have never heard of. Make sure you bookmark this post for your next trip to Bali!  Continue Reading

Bliss Sanctuary Canggu Villa Gazeb Garden

When was the last time you took a holiday? I don’t mean having the day off from work to run errands or even a week off to stay home and organise your wardrobe (although that is essential!). Are you counting school holidays? Forget it, that isn’t relaxing for anyone! I know this because I am also guilty of working too hard for too long and never really stopping to re-energise. I have been lucky to travel to a few of my favourite places over the past few years but I went for work related duties and that means the main objective of a holiday had been removed. This year I am taking a stand and giving myself a holiday, and I am hoping I can inspire you to do the same.

I would say my last real holiday was in August 2010 when I went to New York. Even back then I said it would be an annual thing so I could create a special section on this blog called Beautiful Cities. I failed miserably as I let work take over my life. Then, a few weeks ago I addressed the issue again in my Wellbeing Checklist post. The difference this year as opposed to back in 2010 is that I am now in a completely different mindset and an entirely different body as well. I went to New York depressed, needing some time away and dramatically underweight (but man, I looked hot!). Now, I am healthy on the inside and extremely happy but I know I need a break and I am not happy with how my body looks. I need to exercise and I need some motivation to get moving, and I also need my mind and body to rest so I can continue to work as hard as I do. The answer? A health retreat!  Continue Reading

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
