French Connection 2013 Fashion Haul

A few weeks ago I took a quick trip to Melbourne for a wedding. I was trying to only pack carry-on luggage but when I got to Sydney airport I noticed I had a serious lack of warm clothing to get through the chilly Melbourne weather. I had one satin blazer and it was barely holding up against the airport aircon. Luckily my plane was delayed for 30 minutes so I had some time to look around the handful of stores. French Connection caught my attention and I didn’t walk out empty handed.

Not only did my new buys come in use during my Melbourne trip but they have since been on high-rotation as my new fashion favourites. Want to see what I got?  Continue Reading

Last week I got a lovely note from gorgeous blogger Jasmine from Red Lipstick Stains.

Hi Kimberly,

I’ll be attending my Year 10 formal in August and need some beauty and fashion ideas from an expert! 😉

I’ve attached a photo of the exact dress I’ll be wearing, except mine will be in a sea blue! What shoes and clutch do you reckon would go best with the dress? Also, I’m thinking of wearing a glamourous statement necklace and some chunky bracelets, would gold or silver look better? I don’t think I go well with silver, though!

Another thing is, I am stuck with makeup and hair ideas! I’m not a fan of anything too bright or dark 🙂 would an updo or side swept loose curls look better?

Lastly, nails! I have absolutely no idea what I should do for nails. Any ideas for me?

XO Jasmine

Jewellery, Accessories, Bling. Doesn’t matter what you call it, I am no good with it. I don’t know how to wear it, so I don’t buy it. Problem solved.

No, of course the problem is not solved. I am trying to get stylish and the one thing I read over-and-over in magazines is that ‘accessories’ are what really makes an outfit. Seeing as though I barely have any accessories (remember, I don’t buy them because I don’t know how to wear them), I thought my recent trip to the US was a great time to try find some.

Forever 21 has to be one of my all-time favourite stores. You can get amazing on-trend pieces for pocket change, and they have a huge selection for every style that has ever been conceived. And they offer international shipping which is always a bonus. For clothes, I shop there often (and yes, there will be a separate haul post on that stuff) but the jewellery section was one I always avoided. Now was my time to embrace it and here is what I walked out with. Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
