New Release Beauty Favourites April 2013

Wow. April flew by a little too quick for my liking. With all the madness of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia I completely lost track of time. Who knew 5 days of madness can create a black hole for time. I may have left it to the first day of May but I am not too late to share with you some of my favourite beauty products to launch in April … right?!?

April was a mammoth month for new beauty. A total of 87 new products crossed my path but not all were made equally. There were lots of new Mother’s Day gift-worthy releases but I am going to save those for another post. For now, these are the new April products topping my list. Continue Reading

Sephora Haul Header

It has been sooooo long since I have seen the inside of a Sephora and I been thirsty for a taste of that sweet, sweet Sephora experience. Whenever I am lucky enough to make it over to the USA I always buy a Sephora gift card of some stupid amount so that when I get back home I can still place an order (damn them and not accepting international credit cards) and send it to a friend. I trust my friends way more than a parcel forwarding company so this is the safest way for me to get my fix without buying a $2000 airline ticket.

Today I have my Sephora haul to show you and I am hoping it will be one of many in 2013. Realistically, it is highly unlikely but a girl can dream.

Now let me be clear, all of these items were purchased purely for the interest of this blog. I am always doing things for you. Just know that. Anyway, let’s get into the goods and see what I bought. Continue Reading

BB Cream is continuing to be a raging craze in beauty right now, yet I still find people asking me what it actually is. Don’t worry, if you missed the all explanatory post on BB Cream you will find it here, or you can view some of my other reviews on BB Cream. Today I am showing you the latest release from Garnier’s BB Cream range to hit Australia, the Oil-Free version.

Despite having dry skin, I was really keen to try this new oil-free release because nearly every man and their dog thought the regular version was a godsend, yet I found it to be really sheer in coverage. Would the oil-free make a difference and give me better coverage? Continue Reading

This coming Saturday The Plastic Diaries will turn 2 years old. To celebrate, we are hosting 5 fabulous giveaways. Let’s take a look at what is up for grabs today …

MAC Cosmetics BB Cream

It was way back in January this year that I really started to share my BB cream endeavours. One BB cream that has continued to move forward of the pack and reveal itself as my go-to base is the MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35. As I told you all back then, this BB cream is so hard to get and I really thought twice before deciding to go ahead with this giveaway. But, it would be fair to hog it so I am giving away this second tube I purchased as my very own back-up. I shlepped it all the way from Los Angeles, in my hand luggage so that it would stay in pristine condition. Talk about priorities!  Continue Reading

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
