Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is a time for showing the women in our life how thankful we are for the love, care and support they have shown us. I believe that self-care gifts are the best kind of gift for Mother’s Day, and beauty care is my favourite form of self-care. This year I’ve collated the best gifts, for any budget, to give your mother this Mother’s Day, or to pass on to your own loved ones as a hint of gifts to give you!

Don’t leave your gift purchases until the last minute. This year we are giving you enough time to buy your Mother’s Day gifts online so you can take advantage of extra sales, offers and gifts with purchase. Continue Reading

Spring Facial Hair Remover Wand Tool

Peach fuzz should be exclusive to peaches. Unfortunately that isn’t the case for me, I have that annoying fine, blonde hair (officially known as vellus hair) covering my body like most humans but luckily we no longer need to keep it. I have found a cheap, quick and easy method for removing my fine facial hair, I’m just mad I didn’t find it sooner.

If you have tried threading you’ll understand this concept easily. It’s the same thing but requires no coordination skills. It’s what I would call an easier alternative to threading with the same results. Let me tell you why EVERYONE should have a Facial Hair Remover Wand. Continue Reading

NYFW Beauty Products

You saw what I took in my beauty bag to New York Fashion Week but what about my makeup bag? Picking which makeup I take away with me is definitely the hardest task I have to face when travelling. It would be like choosing which one of your kids gets to travel with you, except the criteria I look at for my choices comes down to versatility, reliability and proven success at making me look good. Rarely will I take a makeup product that I’ve never used before because I don’t have the room to take more than one of each item …. except for lipstick of course. And eyeshadows. And lashes.

As I did with my beauty bag, I try to take miniature and deluxe sized samples where possible and palettes for items where I need a choice of a few colours, excluding lipsticks because I usually need to carry the lipstick around with me all day for touch-ups.

Without further ado, here’s the makeup that landed in my suitcase.  Continue Reading

Foreo Luna Mini Device

It only occurred to me recently that despite my numerous mentions of Foreo’s Luna devices, I hadn’t actually shared a full review. Bad blogger! After nearly a year on sale internationally, the Foreo Luna face cleansing tools finally went on sale in Australia this past March. They launched with the Luna and the Luna Mini, the latter of which I’m reviewing for you.

I chop and change which face cleansing tools I use but in the electric devices category I’ve always loved the Clarisonic. To be fair, it was a genius innovation for its time but now there is competition in the sonic face cleansing market. Can Foreo convert me to the dark side? Read on to find out. Continue Reading

Tria 4x Hair Laser

When I recently shared my beauty haul from the USA a great number of you expressed interest in a review of the Tria 4X Laser Hair Removal device. I was so excited to get my hands on this item that I vowed a review would be guaranteed. Unfortunately I now have to tell you otherwise. I will not be able to review the Tria laser due to a series of unfortunate events. Those events include a shoddy product, clueless customer service staff and panic-attack causing frustration.

Let me tell you the story and why I will not be attempting this product again in the near future.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
