Posts in Botox

Over the past couple of days I have shown you my mothers journey through Fillers and Freezers. We started at the beginning with some before photos and the backstory then we moved on to the graphic treatment photos but now it is time to show you the aftermath and some of the picks from the wedding.

Now I do want to declare I am a terrible photographer and probably need a photography class or two, so photographing the results of the treatments wasn’t easy for me. I will admit my photos probably do not show anything close to how they appeared in real life so I hope my caption descriptions can guide you a little bit at what to look for.

Yesterday I began telling you about my mothers journey with fillers and freezers in the lead up to my brother/her son’s wedding. Now I am going to show you the photos from her treatment. I wanted to do these series of posts for two main reasons:

  1. To show you what really happens during an injectables treatment.
  2. To show you how much of an improvement someone can achieve with the correct products, the correct needles and the correct hand.

Before we begin, lets refresh ourselves with a before shot.

This is just one photo. Jump back to really see the wrinkles.

I have to tell you that this post (or series of … yes, there will be more) has been a long time coming. The preparation for this post started way back on 22 December 2011. My brothers wedding was exactly 1 month away and as this is the wedding of her first born (and the favourite child. Don’t bother arguing with me mom, I know the truth!), she was freaking out about looking good. Of course my answer to her worries were simple, fillers and freezers (often known by brand names such as Botox, Juvederm, etc).

Before I continue, let’s look at some before pictures of my mother, shall we?

Today marks the start of another one of my genius nifty article ideas. As you all know I love learning about beauty and a big reason for starting this blog was to share with you what I learn. One of my favourite topics is cosmetic enhancement, and the one place that is a constant source of information for me is the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA).

I really didn’t know what topic I wanted to start with for this new article series but after the recent publicity around Botox, and it’s increasing popularity, I thought it would be wise to start way back at the beginning. Research should be a big part of everyones process before getting any sort of cosmetic enhancement but the more I speak to those who have had the Botox procedure, I find very few looked into it. I find this concerning so I asked Dr Susan Austin, of the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA) to share her top 5 facts you need to know before considering BOTOX injections. This article series will usually be much shorter with just some basic points, but because this topic is extremely important, I have wanted to provide you with the essential information.

It’s also important to be mindful that not everything you read online or elsewhere might be accurate so consider who has written it, who is quoted, any references as well as where and when it’s been published. Remember, don’t take everything you read on the internet as gospel and always seek expert advice from a doctor before making a decision about a procedure.

Reading credible blogs such as this one (obviously!) is a great place to start your research and visiting websites of medical organisations such as the Cosmetics Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA) can also help you get up-to-speed on the ever evolving cosmetic medical industry.

WAIT, before you inject me, what is that stuff ….

What is it and how is it used?

Botulinum toxin, more commonly known by its brand names, BOTOX or Dysport, can be used to treat ‘dynamic lines’. Continue Reading
