Urban Remedy Juice Cleanse Official Lineup

I am one of those people who always thought “detox” and “cleanse” programs were a bunch of hot air. I knew that they must have a purpose for a select few people but my general belief is you should just eat well all the time and you won’t need to clear out your system. Then again, I am not a smoker or a drinker (unless it is a brightly coloured drink with a piece of fruit on the side and a little umbrella) so perhaps I am not exactly the target market anyway? When I recently found an Urban Remedy gift voucher in a gift bag I got at an event I thought to myself, “why not?”. So here it is, a review of a juice detox by a skeptic. Continue Reading

Today I want to introduce you to Courtney from the beauty blog Phyrra. If you haven’t already come across her blog than I think this guest post will give you just a tiny glimpse of how amazing she is. I call her the Makeup Tutorial Queen because her skill with multi-coloured eye looks never fails to leave me in awe. Courtney is an avid supporter of cruelty-free and indie brands, and if you want to know anything about the Indie sector she will have the answers for you. I hope you enjoy this post as she introduces us all (myself included!) to two Australian indie beauty brands.  Continue Reading

I have done a fair few posts about Laser and IPL hair removal in the past, but it has been quite sometime since I had actually had a treatment so I thought I should take another go at it and see how the treatment has changed. I had heard about The Laser Lounge quite a bit recently and knew them from being one of the fine clinics that offer DMK (yes, my beloved skincare). I figured if they are good enough to use DMK, than they are good enough to wield a laser over my armpits.

Armpits are the one area I like to get treated most because I find they are so sensitive to all other forms of hair removal. My goal is to get that area as hair free as possible, so naturally I picked that area for this review. I decided on visiting The Laser Lounge in Sydney CBD, but they have a few locations which you will find listed at the end of this post. Now for the good part … Continue Reading

Last week saw the official launch of ACPs 30 Days Of Fashion & Beauty for 2011. If you were reading this blog a year ago you may remember that I talked about some of the 2010 events. I also attended some but for some reason I lacked posting about them. I don’t know what I was thinking …. they were awesome!

I couldn’t let the weeks roll past without giving you a little snapshot of the events I think you HAVE to get involved in. But first ….

It is always nice to see a beauty brand doing something good for mankind. For an industry that is perceived as shallow and self-serving, it sure does do a lot for the earth and the creatures that live on it.

I can’t think of two better examples than Aveda and The Body Shop. Both brands have selected April to be the month that helps the globe, on top of their already well established generosity. Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
