I wouldn’t say I have had a lot of experience with surgery in my life, and I am very thankful for that, but I have had more than my share of skin trauma. By the time I had my Rhinoplasty I had almost perfected how to treat my skin from bruises, cuts, abrasions, bites and whatever other damage I would inflict with my proneness to accidents. As I am going in for surgery tomorrow to have my gallbladder removed, I thought I should share my top beauty tips for preparing your skin for surgery. There really are things you can do that will cut down your healing time.  Continue Reading

Kourtney Kardashian using her makeup organizer. Image source: StyleZilla

If you have ever watched the antics of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian on Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s or any of their spin-off TV Shows, you will have probably seen the impressive storage system the girls have for their cosmetics. Their clear, plastic organiser systems have been one of my lust have’s since spotting them on the show years ago. This weekend I was over the moon to receive one when I attend an Australian Beauty Bloggers conference, Beauty Bloggers Utopia.

If you read this post about the state of my beauty cupboard, you would know just how much help I need in organising my cosmetic storage. You can expect an update on that project soon, but for now I want to share my review of my new storage item.  Continue Reading

Rosie Fernandez, Managing Director, La Prairie Australia

It has been quite some time since the last Brand Profile post and it has been something I have wanted to revisit ever since. I will be kicking these off again and to start I am sharing with you one of my all time favourite skincare brands, La Prairie. This brand not only makes amazing skincare that really works, but they do it in a way that makes you feel a million dollars. It is luxury at its finest and a brand that everyone should experience at least once.

If you have ever asked me for skincare advice, chances are my answer has included La Prairie in some form. I am yet to have a bad experience with any of their products or services, and it is a brand I am genuinely giddy to see in-store or at a spa.

To give you some extra insight into the La Prairie brand, I have spoken with La Prairie Australia’s Managing Director, Rosi Fernandez. Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
