I love Urban Decay, they make such great quality products and have a large offering of vegan products too. Their continued stubbornness over making their products accessible to the Australian market has been infuriating but with Sephora’s Australian store opening in Sydney soon, I think we will have UD on our shores before 2014 is over. So while I’m excited about that, those of you in the USA can get excited about a store opening that has never been done anywhere else in the world …. a freestanding Urban Decay store. Discovering delicious food has to be one of the greatest joys in life. It’s a common misconception that vegans mustn’t like eating, or that we don’t care if the food tastes good ….. WRONG. I care. I love food, I love the act of eating and I love exploring restaurants and eateries. My favourite time to do it is while travelling, so you can imagine what was high on my priority list during a recent visit to West Hollywood, USA.
Los Angeles is one of the world’s holy lands for vegans, and West Hollywood (the cool kids call it WeHo) is even more so a mecca. Any food you can imagine is available vegan in WeHo. There are so many great eateries dedicated to vegetarian and vegan food but you’d never know it just by looking at them. They aren’t in your face and they barely mention the word “vegan” (if at all). Other eateries are still super-vegan-friendly and have something fantastic on the menu.
Today I’m sharing with you the places that kept me full during my stay. Bookmark this list so if you find yourself in Los Angeles you know where to find some great eats. Continue Reading
As a passionate beauty consumer and an equally passionate animal rights activist, I like to think I know a little something about nearly everything but I’m also aware that the beauty industry is ever changing and thus I’m always learning something new. Usually, I love what I learn but on this occasion I do not love what I’ve learnt. I don’t like it at all. In fact, I’m horrified.
I read on Slashed Beauty (one of my favourite beauty blogs) about the Beat The Microbead campaign, an international campaign against the use of microbeads in cosmetics. I know exactly what you are thinking because I thought it too, “not another ‘bad guy’ the hippies want to ban”. I put my quick judgement aside and read what the deal is, and the result was my jaw on the floor. Shocked is an understatement.
Microbeads are bad, I’m going to tell you all about this secret killer we are all using everyday, why some cities are moving to ban them and what you can do/buy to avoid the ‘bad guy’. I’ve recruited Michelle Wong, Science PhD and Blogger at Lab Muffin, to break down the science speak for us. Continue Reading
One of the many companies displaying their exciting new launches at Cosmoprof North America was CND (Creative Nail Design, Inc.). What engaged my interest in particular was the addition of 6 new shades in the Shellac range.
Shellac has been everywhere and is still super hot, but you may remember that one thing I felt let Shellac down a bit was the lack of colour variety. Yes, all the colours are layerable and can make new colours, but I felt like the colours were rather simple and plain. I wanted pizzazz. Well, CND must have heard my pleas because pizzazz is what I got!
The New Colours
Did you know you can do textures with Shellac? I didn’t. For the first time CND have released a Shellac colour with a bit of texture, Zillionaire. Ok, so it isn’t texture you can feel ….. Continue Reading
