Kim Kardashian Jessica Alba Rachel Bilson Boyfriend Jeans

This post is sponsored by Target

The Boyfriend trend has been a huge hit with celebrities, on catwalks and in high-end fashion stores for quite some time, but as someone without a supermodel body shape it has meant that even though I love the look of the trend, I couldn’t find anything that suited me. Target understands the troubles real women face with fashion trends so they teamed with their legendary style ambassador, Gok Wan, to create their own Boyfriend Collection.

With the belief anyone can pull off the Boyfriend trend, Target challenged me to create an outfit using one of their Boyfriend pieces. At first I thought they were ridiculous because I haven’t found denim to look good on me in over 3 years but I was up for a challenge. After all, my style icon, Rachel Bilson, can be seen in a boyfriend-style of denim almost every week so it has been on my shopping list for quite sometime. Challenge accepted! Continue Reading

Asos Woven Singlets

Brrr, it’s cold in here …. and out there … and everywhere. Seriously, Sydney is icy this winter and I haven’t purchased cold weather appropriate clothes in sometime. Is it just me or is it so much harder to be stylish in winter? Layering is something I have never been good at doing, I just end up feeling heavy and fat. Nevertheless, I feel I had to try again because I was not going to make it through this winter with only 2 pairs of pants and nothing to wear them with. I jumped on to ASOS one cold winter night and this is what I purchased. Continue Reading

Way back when I started this blog I told you about a little segment I would be doing called Outfit (attempt) Of The Day. It has taken me a while but I have finally got my first one to show you.

The long awaited Forever 21 clothing haul has arrived. After my trip to the states earlier this year, I showed you the jewellery haul as an attempt to ease you into the hauling masses. Next I showed you Zara, which most of you have seemed to think I did well with, or just haven’t said otherwise.

Now, it is my last official clothing haul. I love Forever 21 and in the past I have spent a bucketload every time I walk into one of their stores. As with all the previous hauls this year, I tried to stay calm and only buy exactly what I thought I would need. Here is what I came home with.

NOTE: I am still working out the best way to take haul photos. Does the mannequin work for you? Let me know!

Skirts

I am definitely a skirt girl. I find with my constantly changing body shape, skirts are often the item I can get a little more wear out of even when I put on or drop a few inches. I would like to think I have no problem in the area of selecting skirts, but when I look back on photos of me wearing what I thought at the time fitted me, I realise it did not look so great. Hopefully I have done ok with these two.

Floral A-Line Skirt with Pockets

I like the almost-structured look of this skirt that the hard linen fabric creates. I thought it would work well as a skirt that goes over tops around my waste. It has deep pockets that are hidden quite well, and I love pockets on skirts and dresses when you can’t tell they are there. I also liked the large buttons down the front for a little detail.

I paid = US $12.50

Floral Mini Skirt

I love skirts with a bit of ‘swing’ or movement, and I actually had a skirt very similar to this one that I bought at Forever 21 last year, and it was my favourite for months. When I saw this one I thought it would be just as good as my previous version so I snapped it up without really trying it on. The skirt has an elastic waistband at the back, but flat at the front, and I like this because somedays I am fatter than others. It is double layered, cream polyester on the bottom and a floral chiffon over the top. I thought it was just a really pretty combo I could wear during spring summer.

I paid = US $10.50

I was unable to find these skirts on Forever 21 online, but there are lots of similar styles available!

Dresses

Dresses are my favourite style of clothing.

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
