Schwarzkopf EC Ultimate Repair Collection

With winter in Melbourne now in full-swing I have this underlying need to protect my hair, skin and nails as much as possible. Ok so, winter doesn’t actually cause much damage per se – it’s more the constant wearing of hoodies and sitting on my heating vent that would be the biggest problem – but it doesn’t hurt to use the season as a time to indulge in extra care. And while we are talking about extra care, let’s take a look at Schwarzkopf Extra Care’s Ultimate Repair range.

I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner duo for over 4 weeks and have seen some changes in my hair. The marketing says it will repair damaged hair and apply a protective coat. Did it do that? My review reveals what I really think.  Continue Reading

Schwarzkopf Extra Care Marrakesh Oil Coconut Shampoo

Launched in July 2012, the Schwarzkopf Extra Care Marrakesh Oil & Coconut range was to ride the wave of Argan Oil being used in beauty products. The Schwarzkopf EC version provided consumers with a budget friendly option to what was a booming ingredient but  could their supermarket range stack up to the hype of the more expensive competitors?

The complete range includes Shampoo, Conditioner, Daily Oil Elixir and Express Mousse Treatment. Due to my extremely fine hair I decided to only trial the Shampoo and Conditioner for review. My gut told me that just those two will probably be too rich for my hair, so was it right? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

I don’t get to celebrate the joy of Christmas, or any other gift giving holiday, so I don’t usually care much for gift guides or gifting ideas that come out at this time of year. However, I have come to the realisation that there are now people actually reading this blog (THANK-YOU SOOOO MUCH. I am finally no longer talking to open air), and those people may get to celebrate the fun that is the holiday silly season. For you, I am going to run a set of beauty gift guides. You may find a fragrance to treat yourself, or some skincare or cosmetics for the women in your life.

The first gift guide is all under $15. Did someone say Bargain Alert!

5 Beauty Bargains For Her Under $15

These gifts are perfect for stocking stuffers, office gift giving, Kris Kringle or Secret Santa scenarios and for anyone on a tight budget. Continue Reading

Before I tell you what I think of the product, I want to talk about the actual name “10 Carat Shine”. Does that sound as amazing to you as it did to me? I think the person that came up with linking shiny hair to diamonds is a genius. Sheer genius.

When I think about diamonds I think of beautiful, sparkling, multi-facet brilliance. It might just be me but wouldn’t that be something you want your hair to look like as well? I know I do and that is what attracted me to this new range from Schwarzkopf. Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
