Best Barbie Pink Lipgloss

Phew things make me happier than a bright, Barbie-pink lip colour. Usually I favour a matte lipstick or a full-coverage liquid lipstick but this Spring I’ve rekindled my love for lipgloss. It’s probably been about 5+ years since I really took an interest in lipgloss but with the change of season I’m finding a shiny pout is more reflective of the excitement I’m feeling for warmer temperatures, beach days and spring dresses.

Here are my top 8 pink lipgloss loves. Continue Reading

Revlon 2014 Sneak Peek

Revlon have been very sneaky over the weekend. If you don’t follow them on Pintetest you could have missed their them flashing their secrets but lucky for you I caught them all before they disappear. As shown on Revlon’s 2014 Sneak Peek board, these images preview some of the new beauty products they will be launching in 2014. We don’t know when, why, how …. but we do know how they look.

Actually, we do know the why. To celebrate Revlon’s sponsorship of the hottest New York Fashion Week shows – J. Mendel,  Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, Assembly New York, Rag & Bone and Jonathan Simkhai – Revlon took to Pinterest to give fashion fans a very quick glimpse at their new beauty products. The pins will only be on display during NYFW so as soon as the final show closes on 11 September 2013 the pins will disappear. Sneaky and smart.

Prepare yourself for what your eyes are about to see.  Continue Reading

David Jones Beauty Book Header

David Jones is one of Australia’s biggest department stores (the other being Myer) and considered by many as THE destination for beauty shopping. Personally, I have always been a bit of a Myer girl but over the past few years I have been preferring online over the physical stores. My shopping experiences at the big Australian department stores never go very well, especially at David Jones. The ladies behind the counter always give me filthy looks, even when I am forking over hundreds of dollars on a beauty haul. I always get caught at the register with a 50 year old machine that takes 20 minutes to print out a receipt. And no matter what time of day I go there always seems to be a mothers group with 20 prams in tow knocking me over. Not to mention the last time I went to David Jones Food Hall I got food poisoned by a smoothie. I really have no luck at those stores but yesterday the David Jones Beauty catalogue landed in my letterbox and all those bad memories were pushed aside. The 60 or so pages of beauty porn have lured me in and I am going to share with you the special offers that won me over.

The best thing I noticed about the David Jones Beauty book this year was that most of the offers are available online. Now I don’t have to go in to a store and have a cranky old sales assistant swear at me under her breath. Score!

Here are the Gift With Purchase offers that bowled me over.  Continue Reading

The hype surrounding the new Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters has been dramatic to say the least. On this blog alone I have already mentioned them in this post and this post. What you may not realise is I actually like these so much I now own 9. In all fairness, there are 20 colours in the collection, so I own less than half of them. That isn’t too bad, but I want to justify owning so many and then best way to do that is to give you my proper review of all 9 including lip swatches.

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
