Lancôme, Estée Lauder, Revlon … they all do a pretty good job at making beauty products. BUT, I don’t think I have ever been more excited to discover that one brand makes beauty products …. yep, Crayola. If you didn’t grow up using Crayola pens, crayons, pencils and other colouring-in products you had a deprived childhood. I can say that because Crayola was a ‘top-shelf’ brand in my primary school days. It was like the Porsche of colouring-in products (Faber-Castell were the Lambourghini’s). So when I saw The Beauty Delicacy showed this off on her Google Plus page my jaw hit the floor.

Like every good beauty addict blogger, I instantly started hunting down the Crayola range and here is what I have found. I can only find them in the USA (for now). Needless to say, these are all on my shopping list! Continue Reading

In the first Welcome To My Beauty Cupboard post I introduced Milani Cosmetics, a brand well-known and loved in the USA. Today I am taking a look at Essence Cosmetics, a brand that practically rules the German cosmetic market and have recently landed on Australian shores.

My instant feelings upon seeing the display units and the products was that this brand is going to be making waves. Australia, I am so excited for us!

What Is Essence Cosmetics?

The must have in beauty: trends, fun, unique – but never expensive! With a striking range of quality cosmetics, essence is the ultimate brand for all beauty queens.

Essence is a range of on-trend quality colour cosmetics, that’s as unique, creative and surprising as you are.

All products are made in Europe and offer excellent coverage, vibrant pigments, and super smooth textures that are easy to apply and blend beautifully.

The brand is number one in Germany, and represents a quarter of all cosmetics sales in that country. Think about that for a moment. A population of about 81 million people, over half of those being female. That is huge.

The big draw card for me with this brand has to be that it isn’t tested on animals. For a company to have such low price points (seriously, wait till you see them below) it is refreshing to see that they have a strong stance against animal cruelty.

In the USA Essence is stocked at Ulta and many other stores. In Australia, the brand will be exclusive to Target.

My New Collection

My knowledge of Essence Cosmetics was pretty limited. I had seen lots of their nail lacquers appear on beauty blogs, but I never knew how big and diverse their range was. Now that it has arrived in Australia, I am gobsmacked. The most shocking thing of all, the price points. Just look at the prices of these things!

Mascaras

The brand currently has 8 varieties in mascara. EIGHT!

Multi Action False Lashes Mascara – AU $4.95

I Love Extreme Volume Mascara – AU $5.50

2 in 1 Volume Mascara – AU $6.50 Continue Reading

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
