Posts in Costumes

On Thursday night I went to the Christmas party for Social Diary, an industry website for media and events. Every year it has an awesome dress-up theme and this year it was Wedding Of The Year. You could come as anything related to weddings or marriage. I had sent my RSVP to attend long before I became sick but when it came to the day I wasn’t feeling too well. I was determined to still go because being a full-time blogger means I work alone in my home …. there is no other Christmas party for me!

Coming up with a costume last minute was not ideal. The only thing wedding related I had was my two bridesmaid dresses from the weddings I attended earlier this year. I decided I would go as a trashy bridesmaid (or in Australian terms, a bogan bridesmaid). I am not a makeup artist by any means so I had no idea how I was going to make myself trashy, but after looking up some Google images I felt I had an idea of what to do.

I decided on my pink one-shoulder maxi bridesmaid dress with knee-high black boots and chunky heart shaped plastic rings. I took a packet of gum with me to chew loudly and I borrowed a packet of cigarettes from a friend and put them in my shoulder strap. Now I am going to share how I completed my trashy bridesmaid look with makeup, hair and nails.

Anyone who has known me longer than 4 years would know I love sexy costumes. And no, not for the purpose they were initially designed for, but for just playing dress-ups and looking cute.

I am a notorious dresser-upper and every Halloween I try to rope in as many people as I can to dress up with me. It has rarely worked but nevertheless I have always enjoyed myself wearing some ridiculously adorable costume. Now, before you utter SLUT under your breathe, let me explain why I am talking about this today.

My thoughts are, there is a costume for almost every body shape. I have had my body shape issues over the years and I wanted to show you the costumes I wore at those times. My goal is to show you that it didn’t matter what shape I was, I had fun and I think you will too. After sharing with you my photos I am going to show you some of my favourite costume picks for 2011!

My Costume Slideshow

Here are just a few of my costumes I have worn over the years. Trust me when I say this is just a small sampling of my collection. Eeep!

2006: I thoroughly enjoyed my job at Sexpo of wearing costumes. Good times.

2006: What a charmer. At my ‘School’s Out’ themed work Christmas party

Tangle Teezer and Dessata hairbrushes

Detangling hairbrushes are available from just about everywhere now but when it comes to trusted brands there are a few to choose from. In this post I’ve got Tangle Teezer vs Dessata in a battle of the detangling brushes. Both are priced almost identically (here in Australian anyway) so which brush is worth your dollars?

For this battle I’ve selected the Tangle Teezer The Original to go up against the Dessata Maxi Detangling Brush. I own three Tangle Teezer brushes – The Original, Compact Styler and Aqua Splash – but for this post I’m comparing The Original as it’s the most popular model. Read on to find out which might be the best detangling brush for you.  Continue Reading
