Peep Toe Shoes Box

I have been desperate for new shoes for the past 18months. It is hard to believe it has been that long since I really invested in a pair of shoes. Actually, I think I have only bought 1 pair in that entire time. You see, I have been trying to cull my wardrobe to only include things I truly need and actually wear, but shoes were my big problem. I have always been a collector of shoes and stopping the urge to buy a hundred pairs of shoes every month was the hardest thing I ever had to do. But after all that cleaning out I was left with a dozen or so shoes that look great but only 3 or so pairs were actually functional for day-to-day outings. I needed to buy a new pair of shoes and it wasn’t going to be easy.

Luck came my way at the end of last year when I won a $200 PeepToe gift card in a competition on Danimezza, which happens to be one of my favourite fashion blogs (even though Danielle mostly shows off plus-size fashion I still love her photography, writing and sense of style). I have always been a big fan of PeepToe jewellery but I had actually never bought a pair of shoes from them. They have such fabulous, sexy, over-the-top heels and but because my ankles are in such bad condition I am unable to wear many of their towering stilettos. When I found out I had won a PeepToe gift card (and had calmed down from the excitement) I made the resolution to not spend it until I have found the perfect pair of shoes for me.

Cut to me, last week walking through Westfield Sydney after a lunch date and I saw PeepToe were having a 20% off sale. I thought now would be a great time to check out the store and see if there were any heels for my crazy little feet. I was in luck and now I am ready to reveal my purchases.  Continue Reading

When it comes to bling, I can go a bit overboard. In my beauty obsessed world, the second best thing to pink packaging is something with crystals or jewels on it, especially beauty tools. So it is no surprise that blinged tweezers are something that get my heart racing. Today I am going to show you a LUXE and LESS version and share my review on both.  Continue Reading

I have never owned any jewellery from Swarovski before but I have long admired their work. My grandmother used to have a small collection of the Swarovski crystal animals and I was lucky enough to be able to touch them when I was little. My favourite was this cute little penguin that I have still seen in their stores today. The jewellery was something I had always dreamed of and even though they have really affordable pieces, I could never bring myself to go to a store and buy a piece of jewellery. I honestly thought the pieces were just too special for me to wear.

I was recently given this beautiful Swarovski Golden Shadow Crystal Tennis Bracelet as a gift. It is so beautiful and it is definitely the most ‘grown-up’ piece of jewellery I own.  Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
