Adopt A Shelter Dog NAIL ART

October is considered Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but did you know there are lots of other initiatives that use October as their dedicated month for raising awareness? I have talked about Breast Cancer Awareness already this month and explained why I am feeling a little down on it this year. Adopt A Shelter Dog Month is one of those initiatives stuck in the shadows of BCA but it is very dear to my heart. If you aren’t already familiar with this post about my dogs you will get a great amount of insight as to why I think Adopt A Shelter Dog Month.

The great thing is that I am not the only one who things Adopt A Shelter Dog Month deserves some love. The incredibly talented beauty bloggers from Beauty Blog Coalition have come up with some great nail art creations. If at the very least, we hope this nail art gives you some funky ideas for your own paws, but we do also hope it will inspire you to help out some great charities working hard to rescue abused, abandoned and mistreated animals.

Before you check out the nail art I would like to share with you my list of animal charities that I support. You can support all these charities just by visiting their websites, liking their Facebook pages or sending them an encouraging email. Support comes in more ways than just money, but if you have some of that to share they would definitely put it to good use. Continue Reading

Mommy and Daughter

There is no hiding that I am a crazy dog lady. I won’t incriminate myself by saying exactly how many I have in my care but lets just say I have half a dozen or so. You all know I am that crazy animal lady (and have taken it to new heights by being vegan) but what you don’t know is the backstory. You don’t know that it was a pair of dogs that saved my life. And you probably don’t know that my greatest fear in the world is something bad happening to them. I joke a lot about my dogs but when it comes to talking about the real emotional stuff I run for the hills. It isn’t going to be easy but I am going to let you in on the whole story of my dogs and I.

My First Dogs

You would never guess it now but I was terrified of dogs, even after I got my very own. As a child my mother was scared of dogs and it was definitely passed on to me by seeing the way she would react. My fears were irrational because I had never experienced anything that would justify them. A dog had never hurt me, nor had I seen anyone else be hurt by one. However, despite my fear, I knew that I desperately wanted a dog. We had two cats as I was growing up. Oscar was a beautiful gentle old soul and Otti was a psychopath who would pounce on you out of nowhere, and both of them adored my father. I loved my cats but they were around long before me and I never felt like they cared for me very much. I wanted someone that would love me like our cats loved my father.  Continue Reading

April Fools

April Fools Day has never been so much fun since we have social media and websites to utilise in our pranks. This year there were so many great pranks from all sorts of companies but the ones I found most entertaining were beauty related. Here is my roundup of the best beauty pranks from April Fools Day 2013.  Continue Reading

You are probably wondering why I am doing a review on a product for dogs, but if you have ever met me that won’t surprise you. I am a crazy animal lover and my dogs mean the world to me. Then there is my extreme superficial-ness. Combine the two and you end up with a brand new addiction. Beauty products for pets.

My dogs have always been privy to a little puppy cologne here and there, but that was as far as my family would take the grooming thing beyond their monthly session with Caroline, our lovely but slightly crazy dog groomer. But now there seems to be more and more available in the ‘beauty’ isle at the local Pet Barn and big brands are also getting in on the action, such as Kiehl’s. Today I bring you my first ‘Pretty Petty’ review.

Tester: Levi

I chose Levi as the tester for this product because he loves to get himself dirty. This is the sort of dog who goes out of his way to roll in mud or cover himself in dirt.
