David Jones Beauty Book Header

David Jones is one of Australia’s biggest department stores (the other being Myer) and considered by many as THE destination for beauty shopping. Personally, I have always been a bit of a Myer girl but over the past few years I have been preferring online over the physical stores. My shopping experiences at the big Australian department stores never go very well, especially at David Jones. The ladies behind the counter always give me filthy looks, even when I am forking over hundreds of dollars on a beauty haul. I always get caught at the register with a 50 year old machine that takes 20 minutes to print out a receipt. And no matter what time of day I go there always seems to be a mothers group with 20 prams in tow knocking me over. Not to mention the last time I went to David Jones Food Hall I got food poisoned by a smoothie. I really have no luck at those stores but yesterday the David Jones Beauty catalogue landed in my letterbox and all those bad memories were pushed aside. The 60 or so pages of beauty porn have lured me in and I am going to share with you the special offers that won me over.

The best thing I noticed about the David Jones Beauty book this year was that most of the offers are available online. Now I don’t have to go in to a store and have a cranky old sales assistant swear at me under her breath. Score!

Here are the Gift With Purchase offers that bowled me over.  Continue Reading

The other week I showed you the first glimpse of OPI’s upcoming nail polish collection for Spring 2012, Euro Centrale. Today I have all the photos for you including bottle images, mini pack and counter display. I think this is going to be a delicious collection!

Euro Centrale

The official press release describes the Spring 2013 collection as follows:

Euro Centrale by OPI is a celebration of one of the world’s richest sources of creative talent for centuries, and especially one of the areas of cultural awakening that we are seeing emerging from this region: fashion. Gothic historical churches alongside modern public buildings punctuated with vibrant graffiti murals are the perfect backdrop for modern fashion design to make its entrance.

Young designers present their most avant‐garde creations at fashion shows held in museums, designs to rival anything from Paris or Milan.

Shade Details

Here are the official descriptions by OPI of the new shades.  Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
