Schwarzkopf EC Heat Protection Spray

Protecting your hair during heat styling is absolutely essential. No excuses. You may think your hair can cope with a little straightening every now and then but every time a heat styler touches your hair it’s doing damage. Finding a heat protection product for your hair isn’t hard these days, nearly every styling brand has one but a lot of them are marketed as a specialist product for either straightening or curling. But I mix up what I do with my hair all the time so I prefer a heat protection product that can be used for anything and everything, without any additional hold factor or fancy benefits.

Supermodel (and my own personal hair role model) Heidi Klum can relate, being a model jumping from makeup chair to makeup chair her hair is whipped into all kinds of do’s. It’s those experiences with hair styling that lead her to collaborate with Schwarzkopf on a small range of products – Heidi’s Heat Styles. The heat styling spray is said to be exactly what I look for – an easy, versatile product to be used with any hair tool. My review tells you what I thought of its performance.  Continue Reading

Schwarzkopf EC Ultimate Repair Collection

With winter in Melbourne now in full-swing I have this underlying need to protect my hair, skin and nails as much as possible. Ok so, winter doesn’t actually cause much damage per se – it’s more the constant wearing of hoodies and sitting on my heating vent that would be the biggest problem – but it doesn’t hurt to use the season as a time to indulge in extra care. And while we are talking about extra care, let’s take a look at Schwarzkopf Extra Care’s Ultimate Repair range.

I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner duo for over 4 weeks and have seen some changes in my hair. The marketing says it will repair damaged hair and apply a protective coat. Did it do that? My review reveals what I really think.  Continue Reading

Schwarzkopf Extra Care Marrakesh Oil Coconut Shampoo

Launched in July 2012, the Schwarzkopf Extra Care Marrakesh Oil & Coconut range was to ride the wave of Argan Oil being used in beauty products. The Schwarzkopf EC version provided consumers with a budget friendly option to what was a booming ingredient but  could their supermarket range stack up to the hype of the more expensive competitors?

The complete range includes Shampoo, Conditioner, Daily Oil Elixir and Express Mousse Treatment. Due to my extremely fine hair I decided to only trial the Shampoo and Conditioner for review. My gut told me that just those two will probably be too rich for my hair, so was it right? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

This month we start a new financial year, celebrate christmas in July, and gasp at how fast the year as flown by. Yes, it is July and it has been a crazy month so far. New and exciting beauty products are being launched all around us. At last count there were 60 new releases in the beauty categories this month and picking some favourites was nearly impossible. Frankly, they are all amazing, but let’s see what came in at the top of my list.

I rarely get to test out hair care products for coloured hair because I am not one of those people who always have it dyed. If my 18 year old self heard me say that I am sure she would have dyed of shock, but as I get older I find myself getting less daring and don’t really want to experiment with colour to much. I have also found my hair doesn’t hold colour quite like it used to so out of sheer laziness I just stopped dying it in the first place.

Back on April 18 I tested out Clairol Nice ‘n Easy and saw that as a perfect opportunity to test out some shampoo and conditioner designed for coloured hair. Seeing as though I love the Schwarzkopf Extra Care 10 Carat Shine Gloss Spray (as you can tell from my review), I thought I should give the brand another run. You know, to see if they were a one hit wonder.

What I Say ….

  • I started using the Shampoo and Conditioner duo from my first wash post-dying.
  • The products smell very pleasant, a bit sweet but not overwhelming. Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
