Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries sharing her review of Bioderma Sensibio H2O Makeup Remover Wipes

Bioderma Sensibio h20 Micelle Cleansing Water is a popular choice for makeup removal worldwide. Little did I know that this makeup remover was also available in the convenient and handy wipes format. I spotted the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Wipes during an emergency trip to a pharmacy in Paris when I was struck down with a killer flu. As usual, I go in for medicine and I come out with beauty products. No shock there.

Do the wipes work as well as the original micelle water solution? Are they any better than other makeup removal wipes? My review tells you whether these are worth your attention.  Continue Reading

Rosehip by Essano Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser review on The Plastic Diaries

A gentle facial cleanser is an important staple in my bathroom. I love using skincare full of active ingredients but occasionally it needs a break from fighting the war on aging, and that’s when I turn to a gentle basic cleanser. The Rosehip by Essano Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser isn’t something I would normally be drawn to but with the buzz of Rosehip still going strong I figured I would give it a go.

I never put too much faith in a skincare product without any actives so my hopes for gentle, basic cleansers is to avoid any irritation, over drying or excess oil production, cleaning off makeup and keeping my skin clear. Does Rosehip by Essano meet my demands? My review tells all. Continue Reading

The Body Shop vegan product information

We’ve had lots of requests for more vegan product lists so I’m excited to bring you one for the most requested store, The Body Shop. As probably the most globally recognised cruelty-free beauty brand, The Body Shop is often mistaken for being entirely vegan but while it’s unfortunate to report that isn’t the case, they still do have a huge vegan offering.

The cruelty-free status and vegan product information for The Body Shop is a little interesting because they hold cruelty-free certifications from most of the independent bodies but they are owned by L’Oreal so that raises a question mark depending on your own ethical beliefs. As usual, I will present to you the information about their animal testing policy and the products that don’t contain any animal ingredients, and allow you to make an informed choice as to what you purchase.  Continue Reading

Sephora Australia Price Lists

Sephora Australia open their first store in Sydney this Friday, that’s just 2 days away! I’ve shared with you lots of exclusive snoops since the news broke they were opening a store here, and most recently all the Sephora Sydney opening day information but the one thing I haven’t shared is the price lists. Today, I’m breaking the silence.

We were told Sephora would be keeping prices comparable to their US pricing but no one has actually shared the pricing in detail. Price lists for the brands Sephora Australia will be carrying were distributed to media quite sometime ago but I’m publishing the pricing of the most in-demand products and brands now so you can go in on opening weekend and know exactly what you want to get. My pricing list shows the Sephora Australia recommended retail price in AUD. Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
