Beauty Blog Coalition Online Shopping Tips

If there were just one minority of people who knew how to expertly shop online it would have to be bloggers. And if we were to narrow it down further, fashion and beauty bloggers would definitely be the most savvy shoppers of them all. As we prepare for the Boxing Day sales and New Year shopping madness I asked my fellow beauty bloggers from the Beauty Blog Coalition to provide their best tips for online shopping.

Bookmark this post, write a to-do list and prepare yourself because you will never shop online the same way again. But before we get into the tips from the other fabulous bloggers, let me share some of my own:  Continue Reading

Garnier Fructis Miraculous Oil Flat

This post is sponsored by Garnier Australia

We have seen a boom in hair oils recently but with the majority of the hair market focused on expensive and luxury treatments it is hard to judge whether a supermarket product can offer the same results. Spending $50+ on a hair oil isn’t always the answer, so can you get the same from a product that costs a little more than $10?

With the sunshine out and trips to the beach becoming more regular, now is the time to give your hair extra TLC. Argan Oil offers incredible nourishment for hair and skin but they have become to be associated with being overpoweringly rich and thick. As someone with fine hair, I would have agreed with you until trying this one. My post shares how not only can the Garnier Fructis Miraculous Oil work for different hair types but also the multiple ways it can be used.

Original Mineral nyc Salon Front Doors

On 18 June 2013, Australian hair company O&M opened their doors at their very first international salon. The lucky city of choice was New York and I think their pick couldn’t have been better. You may remember me talking about O&M’s introduction to the US market way back when I met with them at Cosmoprof 2011. The interest from the market was strong and I can’t help but think the brand will be taking over the USA before we know it. O&M.nyc is their newest venture, and I am sure it won’t be their last.  Continue Reading

Lush Cosmetics Campaign Cruelty Free Kisses
Did you know that this Saturday, 6 July 2013 is International Kissing Day? Lots of cosmetic brands have arranged different ways to celebrate but one brand in particular has definitely won the campaign rounds in my eyes. Lush Cosmetics is all about cruelty-free kisses this International Kissing Day and they are celebrating with an official Guinness World Record attempt. Oh and this isn’t just for Australia, this is global!

So what do Lush Cosmetics have planned? Listen to this. All of their Lush stores (worldwide) will be asking their customers to pucker up and support their attempt to set the new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title of the most lip prints collected in 12 consecutive hours. The current record of 22,174 lipstick prints collected in 12 hours is set by Oriflame Slovakia at 89 locations throughout Slovakia on 14 September 2010. Surely we can beat that.  Continue Reading

Clearasil Picture Perfect Guide Hairstyles

Your skin should be your number 1 investment. I know I have said it a million times but for those up the back who may not have heard me ….. your skin should be your number 1 investment. You like makeup? great, it works better with healthy skin. You like pretty hairdo’s? awesome, it looks better when matched with healthy skin. Honestly, your skin is more important than you can imagine but today I am going to play to our completely vain inner self. Can you guess another thing that looks better with healthy skin? PHOTOS!

We are in more photos today than people have ever been in the history of photography. We have camera on everything and with the popularity of social media like Instagram, Vine and Facebook we are sharing thousands of photos every second. Within that there is a very special niche of “selfies” – the all important art of taking a photo of yourself. However, selfies can be the hardest to pull off so when I saw Clearasil had recruited famed fashion photographer Nicholas Samartis to create a “selfie” guide I thought it was definitely worth sharing with you. Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
