DIY skincare facts
Natural beauty is booming. Natural skincare and anti-aging in the wellness sector has over taken wellness travel as the fastest growing interest. The problem lies with the growth – the more growth there is the more confusion there can be. So, how do you find the ultimate toxic free product?

The beauty market is huge, and it’s rife with green washing. Without expert guidance it’s almost impossible to find that perfect ‘clean’ product. Many people have turned to some homemade alchemy, where the only decision left to ensure there are no chemicals is to make it yourself. A quick Google search brings you about 13,600,000 results in 1.11 seconds. Easy A. But is it really better than bought natural skin care? Natural beauty expert, Belinda Hughes, gives us the answers. Essential foods for healthy living

With so many diets, fads, weightless programs and the overall push towards fitspiration, it’s hard to know what you should and shouldn’t be changing in your life. A desire to get healthy is the hardest part, once you have the desire the rest won’t seem like a massive effort but what’s the first thing you can do upon making that realisation? Change your fuel!

Food is the fuel of our bodies and the simplest improvement you can make to your body is to change the fuel you’re putting in. With the addition (or increased intake) of these 3 foods you can be on your way to looking and feeling better than you ever have before. Continue Reading

The Argus Dining Room

When I took a recent day trip to Daylesford I indulged in a few hours at The Mineral Spa, but all that relaxation worked up a serious appetite. Luckily the spa is situated on beautiful grounds that also houses The Argus Dining Room, a fine dining restaurant, that is offers package deals with the spa for indulgent days away. I gave their Spa Lunch package a try which partnered my spa session with a two course lunch.

In this review I share my take on the country dining experience and what was served, of course which incorporated my vegan dietary requirements.  Continue Reading

H&M Time Square Instagram Photo

I hadn’t been to New York since 2010 and having gone vegan in 2013 means that I was yet to venture to the big apple with my new lifestyle. I was keen to see which vegan delights I would uncover and thankfully NYC didn’t disappoint me. Unfortunately I was limited in time to discover everything on offer in New York but even with my time & location restrictions there were lots of delicious treats to enjoy. Here are some of my favourites. Continue Reading

GoodnessMe Health Food Box

I’m a little late to join the subscription box bandwagon but I’ve been enjoying exploring what is out there since the beauty box boom happened in Australia almost 2 years ago. Health and wellbeing boxes are definitely on the rise and I was excited to hear about the GoodnessMe, an Australian food sampling box focused on wholesome and natural products. The hook for me was that every product in the box is always GMO-free and that’s something I’m finding to be more and more important.

So let’s see what I got in the August GoodnessMe box and my review of the included products.  Continue Reading

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
