bhave Smoothe Plus Keratin Therapy review

When health was restored to my hair with the bhave Rescue Therapy hair treatment I found myself searching for a definitive answer on how I would like my hair to be. I’ve been a hair chameleon over the years having died it every colour of the rainbow, tried every chemical and non-chemical treatment, and cut it into all kinds of shapes, but my interest of late has been finding a hair cut, colour and style that just works with my life.

I’m lazy with styling my hair but I always want it to look neat and styled. I love long hair because it’s more versatile and I can tie it back when I don’t want to bother with it. How could I get the best of both worlds at once? The answer was hidden in a lob and a keratin treatment.

I went back to Neil Cleminson, the Creative & Technical Director for bhave, and told him my woes. I was hesitant about cutting off my long locks but with summer here it was just getting messy anyway. The decision was made to cut my hair into a long-bob (lob) and the rest of my hair troubles would be solved with the Smoothe + Keratin Therapy treatment. My review takes you through it.  Continue Reading

Schwarzkopf EC Heat Protection Spray

Protecting your hair during heat styling is absolutely essential. No excuses. You may think your hair can cope with a little straightening every now and then but every time a heat styler touches your hair it’s doing damage. Finding a heat protection product for your hair isn’t hard these days, nearly every styling brand has one but a lot of them are marketed as a specialist product for either straightening or curling. But I mix up what I do with my hair all the time so I prefer a heat protection product that can be used for anything and everything, without any additional hold factor or fancy benefits.

Supermodel (and my own personal hair role model) Heidi Klum can relate, being a model jumping from makeup chair to makeup chair her hair is whipped into all kinds of do’s. It’s those experiences with hair styling that lead her to collaborate with Schwarzkopf on a small range of products – Heidi’s Heat Styles. The heat styling spray is said to be exactly what I look for – an easy, versatile product to be used with any hair tool. My review tells you what I thought of its performance.  Continue Reading

bhave Rescue Shampoo Conditioner

After my recent bhave Rescue experience it was important that I continue to strengthen my hair so that it can return to a healthier place. To compliment the Rescue in-salon treatment, bhave created the Rescue Intense Repair shampoo and conditioner for ongoing maintenance. The same key ingredients are included, raw natural keratin, which is said to keep rebuilding the structure of the hair through continual use.

For my trial I continued using it for 4 weeks on average 3 times per week. Did it keep strengthening my hair? Have I noticed any improvement beyond what the in-salon treatment provided? I tell you all in this review.  Continue Reading

Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair Thermo Leave-in Conditioner

Not too long ago I was trialling a shampoo and conditioner that left my hair extremely dry and damaged. Despite the products stating they were to “repair” already dry hair, I seemed to have had a completely opposite reaction. My hair became so dry and knotty (even while using the conditioner) that not even a Tangle Teezer could get through it. It was upsetting and after 3 or 4 attempts at sticking to the products I decided I needed help from the outside in the form of a leave-in treatment just so I could put my hair into a somewhat presentable state. I had previously tried Goldwell’s Rich Repair shampoo and conditioner samples while travelling and found them to be too rich for my normal hair, so when this damage started occurring I instantly thought back to the Dualsense Rich Repair range as a potential solution.

I reached for the Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair Thermo Leave-In Treatment as a quick spray-in solution. Did it help me? My review tells all.  Continue Reading

Pure Hydrating Heat Activated Styling Cream

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying some new hair tools of late but I know how important it is to use a heat protection product on my fine hair. The recent increase in heat styling has been causing a little extra unwanted frizz so I’ve been playing with anti-frizz products to see what will do the trick. I’ve realised that using a heat protection product as well as a separate anti-frizz product is a little too heavy for my hair at the moment so I moved to trying all-in-one products.

Hot Potion by Pure is a heat activated styling cream that promised to hydrate the hair as well as eliminate frizz, protect colour and defend against UV, thermal heat and humidity. Was this the hair solution I was looking for? My review reveals the answer.  Continue Reading

Tangle Teezer and Dessata hairbrushes

Detangling hairbrushes are available from just about everywhere now but when it comes to trusted brands there are a few to choose from. In this post I’ve got Tangle Teezer vs Dessata in a battle of the detangling brushes. Both are priced almost identically (here in Australian anyway) so which brush is worth your dollars?

For this battle I’ve selected the Tangle Teezer The Original to go up against the Dessata Maxi Detangling Brush. I own three Tangle Teezer brushes – The Original, Compact Styler and Aqua Splash – but for this post I’m comparing The Original as it’s the most popular model. Read on to find out which might be the best detangling brush for you.  Continue Reading
