Rose Gold Colour Trend

I’m absolutely obsessed with rose gold right now. It’s by far the prettiest shade of jewellery I’ve seen but the trend in rose gold bling has now spilled over to other fashion items, beauty products and even homewares. This trend is going to be around for a while to come so I’m stocking up on everything I can find. Here are the gorgeous rose gold items I’ve found so far, plus my wish list of more pinky golden goodness.  Continue Reading

VS Sassoon 2000W Hairdryer

Do you own a hair dryer? It sounds like a ridiculous question but after briefly polling some of my friends I found out that many of them didn’t have one. They owned other heat styling tools – straighteners, tongs, hot rollers ….. but not a hair dryer? It intrigued me and had me curious about what hair dryer I would recommend to someone looking to buy their first. My lightbulb thought was to go back to basics and review some new entry-level hair dryers, and I’m starting with the 2000W hairdryer from VS Sassoon’s Luminous Collection. Continue Reading

New York Fashion Week 2014

We’ve seen the incredible outfits worn to New York Fashion Week thanks to the many talented street style photographers that now rule the fashion world. It’s a topic that interests me but I always find myself asking, “why don’t you snap her nails?” or “where are the cool hairstyles?”. I questioned whether anyone who attends fashion ever did anything with their beauty look so I took it upon myself to go to New York Fashion Week and get the answers myself. This is the result ….. street style beauty.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to ever take a focus on street style beauty but it’s definitely lacking in the blog arena. Yes, the majority of the fashion crowd don’t brush their hair and they don’t really wear makeup but not all of them are like that. I discovered some gorgeous looks and some key trends from the most fashionable people. In the first post of this 3-part series I’m going to show you the cool hair colours and styles I saw at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, New York. Continue Reading

NYFW Beauty Products

I love travelling but for me the worst part is packing (and unpacking, to be honest). I’ve given you a few tips about packing previously but what on earth does a girl pack for New York Fashion Week? It’s a week of post-summer warm weather in a humid city, running around all parts of town, and glitzy fashionistas at swinging soirees. My beauty bag has to carry everything I need to survive the week and even after all these years of attending Australian Fashion Week I still have no idea what to pack until the very last minute.

I try to take miniatures of all my beauty products where possible and I try to avoid sachets or little packets, where possible. I recommend collating deluxe samples when they’re available as gift with purchase offers or as perks from your favourite beauty store (Sephora, I’m looking at you!). These are the beauty products that accompanied me to NYFW 2014.

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
