Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash Pink Shrimp Full

The Aqua Splash brush is the most recent release from innovative UK brand, Tangle Teezer. Their unique hair brushes have been winning awards all over the world and have become a staple in many hair salons. I reviewed the Tangle Teezer Compact Styler earlier this month and now I am ready to share my review of the Aqua Splash, which I also purchased at Hair Expo this year. Will this one rate as highly in my books? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Tangle Teezer Compact Styler Shaun The Sheep Side

I purchased the Compact Styler by Tangle Teezer at Hair Expo this year. I had wanted one since they launched and I picked this little one because I needed a good brush to keep in my handbag. I had been using cheap freebie fold-out brushes and they would always rip more hair out than I would like but they are light enough to add any extra weight to my already heavy bag. I hoped the Tangle Teezer would be exactly what I was looking for. Find out if it ticked all the boxes in this review.

Hair Expo Australia is one of my favourite ways to spend a long weekend. Each year the Australian and international hair industry comes together to put on a weekend of learning, demonstration and celebration. Taking up two massive halls at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, and countless convention rooms, the industry comes together and creates a vibe that can only be experienced to understand. The one word that comes to mind is unity. Of course every business and hairdresser are forever competing to be the best in their field, but on the weekend that is Hair Expo it is like there is no competition, just friendship and a place to enjoy what they love. What that means for me is a place where I feel in my element to explore beauty, and while Hair Expo is not a “shopping” expo and it is for trade only, it places me in a state of mind where I just want to spend. I want to try everything and anything. So at the few stands who were selling things that I didn’t already own, I bought some items that were on my wishlist. Here is what I hauled: Continue Reading

Like many women, I suffer the debilitating illness of super fine hair. Sometimes it can work in my favour, like drying time is usually pretty quick, but for everything else it is almost always a setback. Luckily there are some great hair brands out there who have styling tools that work with fine hair. These are my top 5 hair styling tools I always reach for …  Continue Reading

Recently I have been thinking about dying my hair back to blonde. I haven’t been blonde for a few years and I am definitely in need of a change. My world has changed so much over the past 2 years and I feel like I need something new to reflect the good point I am at in my life. Only problem is, I really don’t carry blonde all that well (in my opinion). Before I make any rash decisions I wanted to consult a professional, so I asked Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards 2011 Colour Technician of the Year (and he is up for the 2012 gong too!), Matt Clements from Assembly Hair in Queensland, for his essential brown to blonde advice.

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
