Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

bhave Smoothe Plus Keratin Therapy review

When health was restored to my hair with the bhave Rescue Therapy hair treatment I found myself searching for a definitive answer on how I would like my hair to be. I’ve been a hair chameleon over the years having died it every colour of the rainbow, tried every chemical and non-chemical treatment, and cut it into all kinds of shapes, but my interest of late has been finding a hair cut, colour and style that just works with my life.

I’m lazy with styling my hair but I always want it to look neat and styled. I love long hair because it’s more versatile and I can tie it back when I don’t want to bother with it. How could I get the best of both worlds at once? The answer was hidden in a lob and a keratin treatment.

I went back to Neil Cleminson, the Creative & Technical Director for bhave, and told him my woes. I was hesitant about cutting off my long locks but with summer here it was just getting messy anyway. The decision was made to cut my hair into a long-bob (lob) and the rest of my hair troubles would be solved with the Smoothe + Keratin Therapy treatment. My review takes you through it.  Continue Reading

Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair Thermo Leave-in Conditioner

Not too long ago I was trialling a shampoo and conditioner that left my hair extremely dry and damaged. Despite the products stating they were to “repair” already dry hair, I seemed to have had a completely opposite reaction. My hair became so dry and knotty (even while using the conditioner) that not even a Tangle Teezer could get through it. It was upsetting and after 3 or 4 attempts at sticking to the products I decided I needed help from the outside in the form of a leave-in treatment just so I could put my hair into a somewhat presentable state. I had previously tried Goldwell’s Rich Repair shampoo and conditioner samples while travelling and found them to be too rich for my normal hair, so when this damage started occurring I instantly thought back to the Dualsense Rich Repair range as a potential solution.

I reached for the Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair Thermo Leave-In Treatment as a quick spray-in solution. Did it help me? My review tells all.  Continue Reading

bhave Rescue hair treatment

Some of my body parts that are showing the signs of ageing more than others. One that I’ve noticed going downhill particularly fast is my hair – it’s quality isn’t what it used to be. Each hair strand is getting thinner but at the same time frizzy, it’s not feeling as soft and it’s looking dull. It’s like my hair is having a mid-life crisis but before I went to New York Fashion Week I decided enough was enough, something had to be done. I started looking into keratin hair treatments, something I had explored many years ago before the technology was refined.

Neil Cleminson at Reveur Cheveux Salon is also the Creative & Technical Director for bhave. After moving to Melbourne in May I was yet to find a new hairdresser so I was very happy to find out Neil was located just minutes from my house. New hairdresser found and coincidently I had heard from some fellow beauty editors that bhave’s Rescue Therapy wasn’t like any other keratin treatment.

Before going in for the treatment I looked into why it was different – the answer was Replicine Functional Keratin, which is the only commercially available fully functional keratin protein that has been extracted using a patented technology from pure New Zealand wool. Now, as many of you know, I’m vegan and therefore I’m personally against using any animals to benefit humans but when it became clear that many of you were requesting information on keratin treatments I had to put my personal feelings aside because this blog isn’t about me being vegan, it’s about helping you all to find the best products out there. I couldn’t recommend any keratin treatments until I did one myself.

Was my ethical sacrifice worth it? Have I found the answer to your hair woes? Let’s find out! Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
